    Hi Guys/Gals,
My Prius is having issues going into reverse.
Sometimes it goes in fine and smetimes it wont go into reverse at all making it basically unusable as it has become too unreliable to use on the road.
Any suggestions on how to fix would be appreciated.
    Cheers, Colin E.

Do you have a Gen 1 or Gen 2 Prius? It appears you have a Gen 1 based on your profile. (i.e. a Japanese import). Is that right?

Is it not shifting? or is it not accelerating? if it wont shift there should be a button under the steering wheel covered by a rectangle/square, you just push it and it shifts again. If it is not even accelerating you need a new HV battery because the computer has decided that the battery is too low to draw a current from. (the electric motor makes it reverse) You can force charge a Prius by placing one foot FIRMLY on the brake and the other on the gas while in D and it will run the engine at a fast speed. This is for 1997-2003 Prius.
