Problem with the LCD screen?

I'm new to this site, and I'm also a first-time Prius owner. I just got the 2010 Prius II a few weeks ago (Jun 20) and I thought there was a problem with the LCD screen. I've browsed the forums here for others who may have had this same issue, but I don't think I found anything. Because I am a new Prius user, I don't know if this is actually a problem or if I'm totally off base.

So basically my (potential) problem is that the LCD screen does not show the numbers advertised in the owner's manual. Like I don't see the average mpg number, I don't see the best mpg number, and I can't even reset the trips to see what mpg I'm getting on different trips. Are these supposed to be in there? They show up in the owner's manual, so I was a little bit perplexed. When I'm in the Trip A screen, for example, the place where it says Best (for best mpg) has three hyphens, like this:

    ---

No numbers....I can switch between the different options on the LCD screen, and the 1-min or 5-min tracking still tell me what mpg I'm getting graphically, but the other tracker is stuck on Trip A and gives me only the total distance driven (and a visual representation of total average mpg, again without numbers at the bottom). Is something wrong here??? Please let me know. Thank you very much.

First, the LCD is a screen in the middle of the dashboard used for the navigation system... not anything related to MPG. What you are actually referring to is the MID (Multi-Information Display).

Second, your description is so round-about, I'm not sure if there what you are actually asking for since you have already described related actions.

Third, if you can toggle between the 1 & 5 minute consumption summaries, you have already done a lot. Many newbies take awhile to discover holding the button does something.

As for MPG info itself, that's just a matter of pressing the TRIP button repeatedly while viewing the ECO-METER. Some is available elsewhere, but that is the best demostration of the many views available.

Perhaps you are looking at the wrong screen? As pointed out above, all of the mileage information has been moved from the LCD (MFD) to the MID screen (next to the speedo).

Also worth noting, past trip info for A and B won't display until the trip meter is reset. Also holding down the trip button in those past screens will clear the previous graphs (I found that out the hard way).

Ok thank you for your replies. Yes I do mean the Multi-Information Display....ok a few more noob questions and observations:

    1) To John: What are you referring to when you say "eco-meter"? (Is it that screen that shows the battery charging and how much you're accelerating?)

    2) To HTML: Like I said in my original post, the problem I have is that holding down TRIP in the trip meter screen doesn't actually do anything for me. I hold down TRIP, I get the question about wanting to reset my trip, I hold down TRIP again, and nothing happens. I don't see TRIP B.

    3) My main problem is still the fact that I don't see the numbers in the MID (again, I'm getting hyphens, ---, when I should be seeing numbers). Does anyone have any idea on how to fix that, or do you think someone made a mistake when they wired this car?

    Thanks for your help again!

Ok never mind I fixed everything! I see the numbers now. Thanks for your help everyone (especially you John; that eco-meter tip is what did it).
