I just got my new Prius 3 days ago. I love the thing!

But the accelerator pedal and brake pedal feel "wierd" and are not comfortable. The biggest problem is that just the weight of my foot presses down on the accelerator about half an inch (im guessing) which means I have to consciously lift my foot up if I want to coast to a stop-light or maintain a low speed without accelerating. I have tried moving the seat up or back, and now have it all the way back (Im only 5'11") but it does not solve the problem.
Also, the brake pedal seems signifcantly closer to me than the accelerator. This is also not very comfortable because I have to re-adjust the position of my foot to go from one to another, rather than just "rolling" on my heel.

I was hoping there was a simple adjustment, but I called the service center and they told me that the action of the pedals is mechanical and cannot be adjusted.

Does anyone else find the pedals to be uncomfortable and overly senstitive?

I like the way the pedals feel. Maybe they will grow on you.

    I'm not sure I follow.

I know that during very careful driving my lower leg can grow fatigued due to having my muscles flexed to hold my foot in just the right position instead of just resting on the pedal. Under normal driving I don't have this problem.

If this is similar to your issue then it should have no relationship to height. I'm 6'3" and still have the problem. It may just be the pedal is higher off the the floor than other cars you have driven?

Move the seat back again, and keep working on finding a more
relaxing position. Sometimes it helps to sort of wedge your
heel against that small bump in the floor just under the go-pedal
and lever the pedal with your toes from that pivot point.
    .
And yes, we all get the tired "driving muscle" along the shin
from trying to feather too intently. Takes a conscious effort to
relax, especially when trying to "sweet spot" it on long
interstates with the cruise control off...
