Then you shouldn't have bought the Prius v. You could've noticed this during before and during your test drive.

If you vote w/your wallet, perhaps the automakers will get the message.

Based on 8 months and 6k miles of ownership, it seems functional, cleans up easily, and generally holds the buttons and levers I'm going to be playing with just fine. On my "dislikes" list, the materials used on the dash did not even appear. But then I came from a rather utilitarian CRV and an older Porsche and neither had the greatest interior materials but both wore well and were kept a long time.

Odd too that you'd consider a TDI as it is a totally different vehicle functionally (size, space). I wouldn't as my last VW was a disaster in both MPG and reliability.

Only goes to show tastes differ.

You comment on the interior of the "v," yet your profile says you own a "c." Such close attention to detail......

Tell you what, if you own a v, I will pay you $15,000 for it. (I have no use for a c, sorry)

Looks like the OP just wanted to "stir the pot" a little to see what kind of a reaction it would generate from both of his posts. He has added nothing of value here, and will likely continue to do so.

Now for my 2 cents on the dash quality. Compared to the liftback, the quality seems higher to me because of the softer material and padding on the dash versus all hard plastic. Sure the upper part is hard plastic, but that is not a part of the car that you would have constant daily contact with. Overall I'm please with the balance of quality, durability, and weight Toyota designed into the Prius v.

If I remember correctly, the Softex material is 60% lighter than leather, supposed to be more durable also, and the Dash is made of a Bio-plastic material. Is it the texture you don't like?

Don't really care about the dash, but am bothered by the lift back door seal. That has got to be the worse design. It is constantly coming loose and interfering with the door.

No, the Prius is not perfect and there are lots of things that could be changed and perhaps the quality of the dash is on the weaker side but considering safety, fuel economy, reliability, function and design, it is a fine vehicle. It is blasphemous to say this but a car is a tool in life - nothing more.
