Has anyone installed a factory remote start themselves? There are some connections on pages 20-22 that do not seem to exist for the v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) Five. Anyone help with this?

It seems rather involved. Here is a tread with install instructions in post #1; DIY install of Toyota Remote Engine Starter Kit | PriusChat
The instructions are for a Gen III hatchback so there may be some changes for the Prius v (wagon) install, but hopefully the instruction describe the connectors that can tracked down in your Prius.

Towards end of install you have to register new parts to the car ECU using TechStream Toyota software.

I did, but I couldn't activate it with my mVCI. I'll check my instructions.

Okay, I have the instructions in front of me....

It's been almost 3 years so I'm a little rusty. Because I was attempting to install the Remote Start AND the Alarm at the same time, it may be different.

If you are only doing the Remote Start, referred to as v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) Four, then follow V4 ONLY. Do not follow v4/v5 Add-on ONLY part. v5 refers to the Alarm. If you do not have the RS3200 alarm then do not follow the blue background instructions "v4/v5 Add-on ONLY". Just follow the yellow background instructions "v Four ONLY".

To be honest, you may want to consider pausing your project, buying the alarm, and trying to do it at the same time like I did, since you have the car semi disassembled at this point anyways.

You're welcome to PM me any further questions. (I do not always get notifications from forums....)

Oh, and be sure all those connections in the foot well area are secure. I left the kick panel open for the service department to activate the remote start. I remember they need access to that area to activate. When I put the panel back in after they activated it, the remote start stopped working. They blamed a CARR alarm that was left because it was still there and non-activated by the original dealer, (my car was transferred from Lancaster to San Diego where I purchased it.) I opened the kick panel and it worked again. Turns out one of those connections in there was loose. I had checked one by one and heard a click on one of them that had been loose, put back the kick panel, and everything was fine.

(Once you get it activated, be sure you check the connections there again just in case.)

Actually, I should be saying "my mother's", not "my".
