Well, I finally purchased my Prius v, giving up the ability to tow my Harley 4,000 miles/yr for the $2500/yr in gas savings. Now my question is, does anyone know where to find any aftermarket stuff? I was hoping to find all purpose winter mats, and ones that extend the whole length of the backseat, and for SURE the cargo space area. I contacted weathertech and they said:

"Thank you for your interest in MacNeil Automotive.
At this time our engineers are in the process of working on the 2012 vehicles. I do not have a time frame on when they will be done. Please go to our webpage and click on Customer Service. Then click on Product Request Form and please fill out the form. We will notify you as soon as they are available.
Please let me know if you have further questions and I will be happy to help."

Also, has anyone put a hitch on it yet? :)

    Bump...

I have the same question. I am running into difficulty with companies thinking I need mats etc... for the Prius V (five).

How would anyone make parts for a car they could not buy? I bet in 6 months there will be parts.

Just like iphones...sometimes the accessories are out before the units are sold...and isn't the V already sold in Europe? I saw a website that looked like pin striping for the dash, but it was all in chinease or something... :)

And have you measured the car, designed your part, made the prototype, started production, and delivered any to customers by this week? Neither has anyone else.

As a consumer that would be a bit out of the ordinary. But, if I were interested in capitalizing on the zeal of a new car owner I may have taken some initiative and put forth some effort to have products available to them at the release of the new vehicle. Seems reasonable to me. But what do I know....

How would you have dimensions of a car never sold before?

If you just want generic parts that do not need to fit, they are out there, but for any parts that need to be custom fitted to a particular vehicle, the Aftermarket, has to wait to get their hands on a production car.

It is honestly well named, it is a market that will happen after the car is in the hands of owners.

Gotta agree with Jimbo - the car has just been released, how do you expect aftermarket parts to be available? Toyota has no interest in making the car available to outside companies - they would rather you buy the accessories that they sell - something that is a fair bit different than with an item like the iphone where Apple actually has a licensing program for accessories where they get a cut of everything sold that carries a "designed for ipod/iphone" logo.
