I've been getting excited about the PiP for over a year now, but must admit I'm a little bummed now. I went to the local dealer today to compare some color options on the Prius. The gray interior is just so dark and lifeless, without contrast and an open airey feeling. Who made the decision for that to be the only interior color option? Can it be changed before production actually begins? I must say the lack of a tan interior is likely a deal breaker for me.
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? Prius Team has been halved recently and likely won't be around to answer this. I can take a shot at part of it though...yes, it's too late to change before production. That said, the gray colors are didn't seem that dark to me...I certainly wouldn't let it be a 'deal breaker'.
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? The only time a lack of interior choice became a deal breaker for me? Was when I was a teenager and a cousin of mine offered to sell me his Ford EXP, which had a bright lipstick red interior. I simply could NOT stand it. But if a tan interior is that important to you? Vs. The reality of owning a Plug in Prius...???? Then do what you feel is necessary.
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? You can't really look at the dark grey interior in a 2011 and get a feel for what it will exactly look like for 2012 since in the Plug In (and I think for 2012 Prius in general) dark grey interior now has more black in it like the glove box, door trim, center armrest are black with contrasting dark grey. I actually like it better than the all grey setup they have now, a LOT better, BUT I also hate tan interiors...
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? OK that sounds good. Our Sienna and my Prius both have gray interiors and i like them. But the dash, seats, door trim all have contrasts of light and dark. What I saw today was the same dark shade from top to bottom and everywhere. Not at all inviting. On another note the 2011 I looked at had the new style std. projector headlights that were blue tinted. I liked them and look forward to seeing the new front facia. Ok deal still on : )
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? uh oh - I didn't pay attention to interior offerings (sigh) . . . . looks like it'll be a visit to the seat cover shop than, for us. .
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? Would non-factory leather (or other material) alleviate your concerns? especially given that leather is not an option?
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? I was bummed too about no bisque interior available but production of this car is so slim, and profit margins are non existent, it needed to be very monospec and not complicated. I was surprised they even decided to offer an upper level car at all. Like Scion production: one interior, monospec. Keeps the costs down for them...
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? The "Dark Grey" interior is actually black now for 2012. The door panels and seats have a medium grey insert (so it's basically two-tone but subtly done).
Re: Prius Team: Why no tan enterior color choice? PS: If you do decide to add the bisque interior, warn me. I'd possibly wait for the green with bisque!! Even sitting in traffic... a little while longer...
