Prius Prime availability outside CA

If you're on the East Coast, your location is outdated in your profile.

In any case, looking at autotrader.com or cars.com is a good way to find where inventory allocations are, just set it to find cars at any distance away.

 

The closest Prime of any trim level is 700 miles from me.

If I want a blue advanced (I do), it's 1,700 miles.

MD is full CARB so it's a universal donor state.

 

I just went on youtube and looked for videos about the Prime made within the last week. There were a number of videos from dealerships on the east coast including upstate NY, VT, CT, FL.

 

I'm getting a prime sometime in the next two weeks here in CT. I wouldn't say it was easy but it mostly consisted of talking to my dealer about getting it ordered. There are also 10 others getting primes over the next few months at my dealership. I also know that they are available in NY.

Just bought one at Jim Coleman Toyota in Bethesda MD from Joel Venga. Very easy, did most of it by phone and email. They had 7, and I think 2 sold. One Plus, mostly Premium, and one advance.
I had tried with VA dealers closer to home but Jim Coleman isn't transferring them. I guess there the biggest hybrid dealer in the region so they got them first.

Miller Toyota in Manassas VA claims they can get Prime. At least Sam Lee says that.

 

When? Jeff at Miller said I'd have to order one. We have bought a few cars from Toyota Sam but last time he was busy so Jeff sold us our sienna.

Currently we don't have any Prius Prime allocated yet. My guess is that we did not sell any and that's why we we're not allocated any for this quarter (when the Plug In Prius was available for sale). So unfortunately we are not getting any in during this quarter allocation.

We can order a Prius Prime, though.

My understanding from Dianne in another posting is that when a dealer orders a car, they exchange with one of their allocated ones.

I know Sam ordered my son's 2015 Prius V from factory to get the requested options, so I know it is possible.

 

so they can order one. any dealer can do that.

Yeah Jeff at Miller Toyota said it would take 8-12 weeks (by email about 2 weeks ago, see below). I needed the tax credit so I went to Maryland.

"Apparently Toyota is only filling sold orders. Meaning any one being built has already been sold. As we do not have any sold, we do not have any coming. If you were to order one, we could have it for you in 8-12 weeks. From what I understand and am being told, this is true anywhere you go.

yup, sounds clueless.

 

Miller in Manassas is a great dealer (where I got my 06) but I would expect the Beltway guys Koons, Jim Coleman, Taylors Alexandria, Fitz auto Mall etc, to get a leg up on early Primes.

 

The Omaha World-Herald Newspaper in Omaha, Nebraska had a full page article on the Prime today in the auto section of the paper. That might generate some interest in the area, hope so. But so far no dealer in the area has any.
