Hello everyone; this is my first post. Last Saturday I put a Prius on order at my local dealership. I've wanted one for years, and now it's finally time to pass on my trusty Honda Civic to my 16 year old. The thing is, I want my Prius in Spectra Blue Mica--a new color, the one they're picturing on the front of the 2008 brochure. Anyway, there don't seem to be many blue ones around, so the dealership is hunting around for one. I originally wanted package 2, and there are none of those around, so now I've got them looking for either a package 5 or a 3. The salesman keeps asking if maybe I wouldn't like another color, but I really have my heart set on the blue. I've never actually seen one in that color in real life, and it's very sharp looking on the brochure. Anyway, if they can't find one within 100 miles, they're going to have to order me one, and for the next 6-8 weeks I'll be having that night-before-Christmas excitement. I keep going to the Prius website, clicking the little Prius to make it Spectra blue, and spinning it around to get a 360-degree view. Pathetic, I know. My time will be better spent here, studying up to learn how to drive it for maximum fuel efficiency.

I don't have any questions yet; I just wanted to introduce myself and say how much I'm looking forward to being a fellow Prius owner.

    Hi Misadventure!

I've seen the Spectra Blue in real life, and it is very pretty.
I would think that it will show dust/dirt pretty easily, though.

I'm really happy with my Super white Prius :p

I'll back that up. We saw a Spectra Blue before settling on Silver. It's a nice deep, bold blue.

SPin..spin...the car. I did that everyday for a week as I dealt with dealerships and salesman telling me how hard it would be to get my Mag Gry. I travelled 200 miles to get mine and it was worth the effort, no add on destination charge which is just another rip off of your hard earned money. Get the color you want, it will be worth your time and effort.

I haven't seen many of the new blue ones yet. My dealership has about a dozen on the lot and don't have any in that color. Speaking of interesting colors, I saw one on the street yesterday in a green color that I'd not seen before. It definitely wasn't the Silver Pine Mica like mine, a darker grey-green color. I am not sufficiently versed in Prii to be able to distinguish the model year on-sight, but it appeared to be a second-gen car.

If you are going to order one for the color, might as well get the exact package # that you want too. There's a big, about $1500, price jump between the 2 and 3 packages.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. All of the handful of spectra blue Prii in the immediate area are spoken for, so I have put my package 2 spectrau blue on order and will be spinning the little blue on-line Prius for 6-8 weeks. But I agree, it's worth the wait to get exactly what I want. And it's nice to hear from those who have actually seen a spectra blue one in real life. I kind of like the idea of being the first one in my neighborhood with one.

I do like the Spectra Blue Mica and I actually had three choices of color before I purchased my Silver Pine Mica. They were your favorite Spectra Blue, Silver, and Silver Pine Mica. As you can see, Silver Pine won the toss.

Don't forget to show us a pic as soon as you get your new Prius. ;)

My FJ cruiser gets horrible mileage and I don't want to drive a car like that any more (although it is a nice car) so I ordered a Spectra Blue package 6 today.

My dealer told me it would take a month or less to get... so I suppose it will be longer.

Still waiting...the dealer said it would be about three more weeks.

But I do have a question. My daily commute is about 6 miles in either direction. But I read somewhere here that the real mileage benefits don't kick in until you've driven about 8 miles. Will I see any difference in mileage per hour? (Please say yes!)
