Prius Navigation Voice Commands

    The voice commands on Prius 2009 Navigation system belong to the first generation voice synthesis system of the last century. It is frustrating to hear a tired voice simply telling me in halting computer accent, " 495 East is on the right"; why can't it simply say; "take next Exit to 495 East" like any navigation system one-fifth its cost? The dealer could not tell me if I can change or opt for upgrade to a better voice command system?
    Can any one give me some guidance?

    I don't think there is an upgrade to give you better voice guidance.

    You can opt to turn off the Nav voice guidance and just use the information on the screen. I have turned mine off and it gives you the same directions on the screen with arrows with distances to the next turn.
