Prius life after 100000 mileage

i dont think there is any regular drivers with that level of mileage but there is a taxi cab company owner who has had great success with Priuses over 200,000 miles without replacing any major components

 

There is also a Taxi company in Victoria, British Columbia that use a number of Priuses (sp?). I saw them when I visited Canada just a few weeks ago. You might be able to talk to their mechanics. I always feel Canadian are farily friendly. :roll:

 

Miles Driven and Age both take their toll, having high mileage without age is likely a better scenario. I suspect 100,000 miles on a four year old Prius vs 100,000 miles on a 10 year old prius will be very different. Personally, I think the four year old Prius will fare quite well.

Plus, the link I noted has info on the maintenance records of the Prius in question.

For those that don't know, Toyota wanted this 2001 Prius back so they gave the guy a new one for exchange. Toyota wanted to take the 2001 apart to see how parts stood up.

Hehe, Scotty, I found a mistake in your correction as well. The prius driven by Andrew Grant did get 332,000 km...that was the one prius04 was referring to, I believe. This prius, according to the article was North America's first hybrid taxi.
The mileage of 366,182 km, however, was for the prius driven by Jatinder Parhar, which is Canada's highest mileage prius. Splittin' hairs, I guess but couldn't resist. Either way, it's a helluva lot.

But you are right, having either 332,00km or 366,182km is "helluva lot". After reading this, I don't feel like getting the Extended Warranty anymore. But who knows what will happen.

 

The service history for Andrew Grant's (first) famous taxi are posted somewhere on the internet. With luck, I could find them again. But I did note that he did have some non-warrantied (post-warranty) repairs.

Those included an HV ECU, water pump, front axle bearing, MFD, heater contol motor, and (perhaps?) front drive axles. Also brakes (more than once), struts and shocks, as might be expected in taxi service.

Overall, not a bad deal for so many km of service, as he said himself. I am hoping for 300k miles, and now approaching 78k miles with my 2001.

 

To get back to the question - if you can wait 2.5 more years, I can tell you. I'm at 31k+ right now, driving about 25k annually.

My car now has 102,000 non-taxi miles on it.

No problems except the recalls to reprogram the computer.

The car still drives like it is brand new.
