Prius gen 2 2007 model , mileage 270K , consuming oil half litre every 2000km recently it was low on engine oil top up oil and check engine light blinks
Tried to cleaned solonoid after that cleaned vvt filter as well. But check light is still on.
It's giving dtc p0012 . Changed vvt solonoid with newone but still same. Prius average dropped from 17 km/ltr to 13km. Poor acceleration. Mostly during driving engine is supported by battery bank.
I have tried almost every clue available in internet but so far no luck.

Maybe you have timing change stretch with the low oil problem and oil consumption problem with your mileage the low gas mileage the VVTI part and all of that seems to me like you may be in trouble in the valve train department stretched chain etc It is certainly something worth looking into You may be able to roll the car with the valve cover off or rather roll the engine around with the valve cover off and see how much slop is actually in the chain Good luck my friend.

Yesterday I remove top cover and timing chain cover. My mechanic told me to change vvt phaser and things will settle., so I did not look into other clues or parts. Changed phaser with other engine. Did not change chain, and rest of parts,
Pur every thing back as nd did test drive. For couple ogmf nikes it was fine but after that again same dtc p0012
No idea what to do next,
Attached clip of electric current in ocv grip
Now after few seconds of engine start I get check light
    Any buddy faced similar situation

So all the lobes on that camshaft look nice and shiny no flat spots etc every one of them those are activating your valves your cam phaser is coming from a used car usually cam phasers and my experience don't really go too crazy they usually work pretty much as expected or if they do go bad I haven't seen a lot of them and changed them myself or anything like that I do know there's been some problems with timing chain stretch in some of these 1 NZ engines. That has to be measured kind of carefully there's also a timing chain tensioner and the old days I've seen people play around with the old manual tensioners adding a little space and screwing it in further to tighten up on the chain to see if the poor running will somewhat subside and if it does then they know that their timing chain tensioner cannot take up the excess slack that they just did by adding the little spacer to the end of the tip on the manual timing chain tensioner. I read a post where others have had codes about the timing chain business and it turns out the timing chain was stretched enough to cause all the hullabaloo and I guess once it was changed new tensioner fitted and reassembled everything worked as expected You've got to look at the teeth on all your sprockets and cam phasers too there are specifications I think in the factory manual and most of this can be measured with dial calipers and things like that. It's close inspection that generally reveals the problem so you have to take your time with that right the information and measurements down compare them to what's in the factory manual for specifications and go from there.

Thanks for reply, yesterday I open up valve cover trying to figure out valve clearance . During manual rotation of engine I have noticed that oil leaks underneath first cap which holds phaser and exhaust shaft. I think oil is not supposed to leak from this area. I have attached picture . I think some thing related to low oil pressure to phaser. Or my oil pump is not producing enough pressure of it's pressure is lost in the way somewhere IMG-20240729-WA0017.jpeg IMG-20240729-WA0019.jpeg
