    From the article:
Sukie inspected every penny. He separated them by year and mint location. He wrapped pennies of the same year and mint into 28,851 rolls.

He stored the fifty-cent rolls in 559 boxes in his basement. He documented the contents and date of each roll in a loose-leaf binder that is now 3-inches thick.

"He is a bit meticulous," Violet said.

    Ya think?!

I'm not at all sure about that because, it seems to me, out of over 1.4 Million pennies there would have to be a few that were collectible (i.e. worth more than 1 cent).

I mean, he went through the unbelievably time consuming task of sorting each coin by year and mint location but didn't bother to consult some sort of numismatic guide to determine whether any of them were rare?

Actually my drug of choice starts with A and ends with L (...nafrani... in the middle). Cheaper, comes in generic. Yes, a few more side effects but generally well tolerated and the side effect fade more often then not.

That's exactly the same thing I thought. My father collects pennies and has set a bunch aside for their rarity, irregularity, or other characteristics. I would like to think that he took the time to review the pennies and set aside the collectable ones.
