This Friday in Colorado Springs, a pickup near I25 offended a 30yr old Prius driver (not clear, but probably was unintentional offence). He tried to swipe the pickup, rammed it, then pulled the 70yr old man and beat him. Assulting anyone over 60 is a felony on Colorado.

I've been upset, but can't imagine it going to the point of attacking the vehicle and driver.

Yeah I know: Assult and BATTERY

Looks like a Prius driver finally had enough of getting cut off in traffic. That said, I would never beat up a clearly old person. However, i've worked over a few who ranged from 20-50

Attacking another person is brutal and barbarous. Ramming another car with your own is a symptom of insanity. Unless your own car is worthless, or worth so little that you can throw it away lightly.

There was a W.C. Fields movie in which he comes into a lot of money, and he buys a lot of cars, and hires drivers, and he goes out and rams road hogs. Each time he abandons his ruined car and gets into the next one.

Why is it that the Prius driver was in a "fuel efficient" vehicle, while the pickup driver was not in a "fuel wasteful" vehicle?

I've definately noticed that some drivers really HATE the Prius, and go out of their way to be total assholes. Very weird.

I don't go looking for trouble. That said, if somebody happens to act in an aggressive and/or threatening manner to me, they had better have the balls to back up their actions. I know how to look after myself

I personally think it's juvenille and retarded to play games with a vehicle. I've had a ricer, an Expedition, and a couple of pickups attempt various dangerous and illegal moves over the past four years, while I was driving my Prius

In every case, I calmly waited until they were boxed in at a traffic light, or pulled off into a parking lot, before giving them the "personal touch"

Oddly enough, I have never had anybody try such a move while I was driving my FJ. Unless you count that retard a couple of weeks ago who was following me too closely on very icy streets. The light turned red, and I had little trouble stopping, thanks to my winter tires.

He managed to slide into my new Fab Fours bumper. Not even a scratch on my rear bumper, but his ricer had extensive front end damage. It may have been my size and demeanor, but the kid was pretty apologetic. Since the numnut was all but kissing my rump, I saw no need to give him the personal touch

A special situation occurs when a "real" weapon is involved. In an urban area, I would probably back down if the other deranged nut pulled a gun - there is too much risk of collateral involvement, especially from a mental nut

As I've had weapons/combat training, I'm not afraid of guns. A lot of the gang-bang gunslingers around here have *not* had training, hence the tragic collateral involvement.

Personally, I feel that Canada should have a version of Gun Control as is practised in Singapore. That would tend to all but eliminate our gang-bang gun problem

I had to laugh JayMan:"In every case, I calmly waited until they were boxed in at a traffic light, or pulled off into a parking lot, before giving them the "personal touch"

Would introducing some ones face, (who sucker punches you) to the pavement come under the "personal touch"?

The article is not clear about what set the Prius driver off beyond it was a near-collision....would it have been a minor fender-bender, or possibly much worse? Was the truck driver just careless?

Until I know more, I'm giving the pickup driver the benefit of the doubt that he did not intentionally seek a confrontation. If you think I'm a truck apologist - just ask members at GH....they think I'm an eco-Nazi wanting to exterminate all pickups.

I hate speed demons that come up very aggresively behind my Prius. I'll flip on the emergency blinkers to send a message. I don't like hitting the brakes in these situations.

Light tap(on the brake) or slow down works.

I drive the speed limit and move in between the two lanes. If you're going to try to inconvience me by tailgating me and try to get me to go over the speed limit, I'll show you what 25 mph looks like for as long as I can

Why is he being described as a "Prius driver?"

You don't see headlines like "Crazed Taurus driver..."

Your right, but if you drive one of those ugly things (Taurus) it goes without saying that you're mentally unbalanced.

I once had an elderly man harass me for about 5 minutes on Storrow Drive in Boston, swerving around, blowing his horn, and making gestures the whole time, because he thought I cut him off. I don't think it had anything to do with my Prius.

We were at a stoplight and he was next to me in a left-turn-only lane. I went straight and he tried to as well. He probably just couldn't see well enough to know he was in the wrong lane.

After a few minutes of his antics I would have been ready to get out and beat the guy into submission, if not for the fact that he was so old and frail. He looked like he could have been my great-grandpa. I was just in shock.
