I was really over this car today. While trying to get home, less than 3 miles away, the chime went off once, and the CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM warning came on. The car slowed to a crawl, then nothing. i managed to get over out of rush hour traffic and get Green Tech Auto on the phone, less than a mile away. i didn't get an answer at the shop, so I started it again, and nursed it there, almost made it to the door.

The tech came out and tested it. After about 15 minutes of codes, what showed up was a bad water pump. What he told me was that the engine shuts down when this happens to keep the engine from overheating. He stored it for the night, gave me a ride home, and will call his "non-hybrid drive" mechanic tomorrow.

Now i get to spend more money on it. I haven't had a chance to recover from the last big expense, last week.

I guess I have to look at it as I don't have a car payment, at least.

I don’t believe your last diagnosis was correct. Bad water pump is really bad news, once you repair that, head gasket is right around the corner

Water pump means engine coolant pump right? What’s the miles again?

Good time to replace (water pump and thermostat).
