Prius C Lurching forward when accelerating

My 2012 Prius C 1 (111K) makes a lurching, shuttering when feathering the acceleration to bring it up to speed. Idk if the transmission is slipping (do CVTs do that?) or if the engine doesn't fully fire. Researching online and found the diagnosis could be loose engine mounts to leaky head gasket. Not sure what the problem is. No engine lights are on, and when I took it in for a free OBD scan no codes came through. The shaking/lurching has been getting more noticeable, and I'm afraid it's something serious. Will take it into a hybrid specialist, but wanted to know your thoughts.
