Prime Traction Pack voltage report

    Techstream HybridReporter DrPrius Torque screen grabs of the Traction Pack module voltages.
    Add either a header of footer with Prime description ( year - trim ) since not all profiles get updated. SOC % as shown on the MID and which App used.

    I have apps and OBDII dongle, but have never taken any measurements of each module. I don't know how the test should be performed, and to tell the truth, I don't even know what all the numbers mean. I do have Techstrem but it never worked on my laptop. HybridReporter if that is the report generated from the Hybrid Assistant app, then AFAIK, report I have generated do not show the module voltage (or did I miss it?). I also have Dr. Prius and Torque apps, but again never used it to measure individual module voltage.

    Can someone show me how each of apps should be used and how to interpret the results?

    speed was between 10 mph and 30 mph Temps were between 57 F and 63 F
    went out 18 miles between 15 to 30 mph, came back almost the same way at 17.6 miles but much slower at 10 t0 20 mph. trying to make it back on one charge without having to stop 3 mile short to charge. Last 3 miles uphill were at 10 mph.
    6.6 miles/Kwh
    MID showing 6 hour 10 minutes to charge.
    Rush Hour at 7 am, impatient 45 mph, lots of traffic lights and uphill is gonna kill whatever estimated EV range I added with this run. Hopefully estimated EV miles wouldn't be lower than last nights 25.9 when charging finishes tonight.

    Get DrPrius - Plugin elm327 (bluetooth recommended) or wifi adapter - open DrPrius app - start car - my elm bluetooth showed up in DrPrius app - touched the adapter in the apps and it paired in a couple seconds..

    a bit of extra heat in cabin added while plugged in charging
    helps explain the pack temps,

    The first 10% SOC from the MID (100% SoC to 90% SoC) = around 10 to 12 pack volts on the drprius screen - from what I've seen.
    The last 10% SoC from the MID (10% SoC to 0% SoC) = around 3 to 4 pack volts on the drpirus screen - from what I've seen.

    While driving,
    The first 10% SOC from the MID (100% SoC to 90% SoC) = around 10 to 12 pack volts on the drprius screen - from what I've seen.
    The last 10% SoC from the MID (10% SoC to 0% SoC) = around 3 to 4 pack volts on the drpirus screen - from what I've seen.

    Early this morning 1 Jan 2021 around 34 degrees F - I noticed at 25% EV on the MID I had around 5 to 8 volts left showing in the drprius app, ie: between 335 volts and 338 volts.

    Driving up a fairly steep hill with 3% SOC on the MID I was seeing the drprius apps voltage drop momentarily to 325 volts

    The reason for the voltage ranges is that the voltages pulse, sometimes as much at 10 to 15 volts up and down on the hills. And the car has to be gliding with no regen, rolling slowly with no regen or battery power being used, or stopped before the voltage stays static.

    Gives new meaning to me of grid charging terms discharge slope and charge plateau.
    Although I think it would have to be seen multiple times both in drprius and a grid charging graph before it would make sense.

    Great information. Thanks.

    Here in Michigan during the cold weather, traveling at 72 mph. My range drops to as little as 15 miles. Of course I'm running snow tires. I'm going to try to setup the hardware and software needed to run your tests.

    It's kinda hard to keep an eye on the graphs at high speed and/or with traffic.
    Keep in mind my readings are from trips that are all EV miles and in the boonies with no traffic to speak of.
    I'll have to make some HV runs to see how they look on the graphs, thanks for the heads up.
    I'm still curious to find out how far the Prime will go in EV mode at 80 mph. I'm guessing about 10.

    on an unrelated note, I just had to panic brake this morning for 4 deer crossing the road, than panic brake again for the last straggler that got brave and limped across in front of me just as I'd started to go again. :love:

    I have a cheapO (single layer) elm327 bluetooth doggle that kinda works OK in DrPrius, Hybrid Assistant and Torque, But, it also shows some weird GPS in torque and is missing a few of the Primes sensor data in Hybrid Assistant.

    @jacktheripper has done a lot a testing of the bluetooth (recommended) and wifi doggles and has posted some findings that might help you find one that fits your needs.

    The charge mode Amps pulse all over the place, even at a steady speed and fairly flat pavement.I drove mostly between 30 and 35 mph with a few (about 5 miles) at 55 mph. I saw a peek of 40 Amps while in charge mode on this trip, but the Amps fluctuated mostly between 10 and 20 Amps. I've seen the Amps spike to 80 once, for a split second,on another trip while applying the brakes.
    Notice and compare the Internal Resistance in this screenshot to the ones I've pasted above.
