is this a drop in msrp, or just dealer discounting?

to me it looks like the same price people in the northeast have been paying.

Cars in MD, no real deals. Still just $1,000 from Toyota for the first two.

OK the Pens didn't blow a 6 goal lead.

Would like to see the $4,000 extended to my region

If it helps, I just bought a Prius Prime Advanced in MA on Friday... Toyota $3250 rebate plus a discount with price quote via USAA/Truecar made it $28,989 (vs $34,703 MSRP, paint, all weather liner package, wheel locks & destination). I hate buying cars, but generally felt like it was a decent price... not sure how it lines up with previous pricing or recent drops?

You're right-up there with some of the better deals I've seen. You received $5714 (discount+rebate)...Last summer a few deals out of Rhode Island cracked $6K (I think), but I consider anything in the upper $5K pretty damn good. Add to that another $4502 federal rebate and the $1500 Mass incentive you qualify for and you end-up $11,716 off MSRP...That's 1/3rd off...Be very happy...

Thanks for that info - I hadn't done any research so that's really good to hear. My 2010 Prius III got totaled a week ago and I had to buy something quick, so I'm glad I did OK. I still have to figure out the tax thing (next year I'd assume), and need to apply for the MA incentive today.

I get the idea that you can take the tax thing either 2017 or 2018 tax years, your choice

See the instructions for federal form 8936
Instructions for Form 8936 (2016) | Internal Revenue Service

The following requirements must be met to qualify for the credit.
    • You are the owner of the vehicle. If the vehicle is leased, only the lessor and not the lessee, is entitled to the credit
    • You placed the vehicle in service during your tax year
    • The vehicle is manufactured primarily for use on public streets, roads, and highways
    • The original use of the vehicle began with you
    • You acquired the vehicle for use or to lease to others, and not for resale
    • You use the vehicle primarily in the United States.
Instructions are pretty clear...You can claim the credit only for the tax year in which you placed the vehicle in service.

Here in Ny Toyota gives you $4000 off, state is $1100 off plus $4500 fed credit. Plus the dealer will knock off some.
