Toyota dominates Consumer Reports 2018 Top Picks; Chevy Bolt, Impala, Ford F-150 on list Consumer Reports picked the Chevy Bolt Instead of the Prime
Looking at the sales for the past four months, people who voted with their wallets: model sales last 4 months 1 Prius Liftback 18731 2 RAV4 17709 3 Fusion Hybrid 15316 4 Transit Diesel 14362 5 Bolt EV 10172 6 Camry Hybrid 9134 7 Niro Hybrid 8197 8 Prius Prime 7376 9 Ram Pickup Diesel 6793 10 Highlander Hybrid 5241 11 Model 3 3450 Strange if it wasn't going to be the Prius by sales, they skipped over RAV4, Fusion Hybrid, and the Transit Diesel. I can understand the Transit because it is not ordinarily seen as a passenger vehicle. But the RAV4 and Fusion Hybrid are half again higher sales. Bob Wilson
The Transit is likely only fleet and commercial sales. The Bolt was top of the compact green car list. Prius or Prime could be top for midsize one.
1) it's consumer reports 2) you can't blame them for giving it to a company that created a bev for the masses.
^ditto without reading it my feeling is CR has a certain agenda on cars, not too mention bad in-house method of city MPG testing
I can’t fool myself into thinking that anything but the Bolt is the green car of the year. It’s a sub $35k (especially with dealer incentives) practical pure EV with over 200 miles of range.
Exactly! It’s crazy just how much can fit in the Prius. I was told flat out that I would never fit 3/4 of pallet of rectangular boxes into my car, and felt a good deal of pride when everything fit fine. My SUV driving client was simply astounded. Then there was time we got a treadmill into the back of our Gen 3. I think we needed to leave the hatch on that one a bit ajar for the rear-tine tiller, though. But does the EPA classify the Prime as a mid-size car as well?
This Wikipedia graph bears out the sense I'm getting. if I'm reading this right, there were a mere 700 Prius sold in Canada in 2016? Seemed like sales petered off as 3rd gen proceeded, and died on the vine with 4th gen intro. The US got a nice bump in 2016; here, not so much. Source: Toyota Prius - Wikipedia
