I was traveling in PA (based in NY) and the previously perfectly reliable car decided to become unreliable.

In cruise control at 70mph ish the Low braking power and several other messages were displayed. I called the nearest dealer and arranged a service visit.

Visit 1 to Dealer A) "Found 8 codes 2 main codes where P058a01 and P157800." They stated the 12v battery (original since 2018) was bad. Replaced 12v. Drove it away and it worked for a 15 minute drive. 2nd drive failed with Low braking power message and others. Back to the dealer.

Visit 2 to Dealer A) DTC code C1404 Malfunction in Rear Speed Sensor LH Circuit. They did not have the part nor the time to investigate further. The C1404 code triggered C1a50 Brake System Malfunction and C1a50 a Pre-collision failure.

Visit 1 to local repair shop) Replaced Driver's rear hub assembly. Drove away and it worked for 1 trip of about 40 minutes. Then the low braking power and other messages came back.

Visit 2 to local repair shop) The rep showed me a graph of the 4 abs speed sensors and the Rear Left hand graph had multiple small regions where there was a data drop out. They stated it may be in the wire and it could be 1 hour to many many hours to find it.

Is it likely the wire? Is there a better way to determine where the issue is located? Don't want them to spend x hours searching then say need to replace the computer.

Are there known places to check for wire harness damage? There have been days with large snow buildup around the tires. Favorite mouse chew spots?

Do I take it back to local repair shop or go to Dealer B?

Thanks for your input and sorry for the long post.

I think the connector with the circle on it is the skid control ECU. Not sure. The arrows point to potential chafing spots near the connector. Are those normal?
