Some people have. Some people have got it even cheaper. The majority of people are refused the internet advertised price at the pickup counter but they usually honour it if you get that dealership to do the labour as well. This has been true for just over a year now (Jan 01 2018)

I happened to look on parts.toyota.com and one thing caught me- I put in my zipcode and though it came back with a list of 50 dealers, only one had a link that let me select it and get a price.

What's up with the other 49?

Toyota dealers do not want you to repair your old Gen 2. They want you to buy a new one, just like apple.

Ah, I was actually checking on part number G951052060 which is a traction pack for a 2017-19 Prius c. Obviously I don't need one yet, just curious about whether the same discounts were appearing in this similar part, trying to form an idea of what it might cost when I get there.

Don't get me started on apple, I'm in the middle of a repair drama there now.

Several places around the country have further discounted the battery to $1650 or less. Do an internet search, get your quote in writing and call the service manager to confirm.

I am not an Apple guy, but I have heard really good things about Luis Rossman (he has a web store here, but also has a brick and mortar shop in Manhattan and makes super excellent YT videos about Apple repair). He is a pro and is a huge improvement on "Genuises" at the apple store. Hope that helps and sorry for the side track.

I think that will only work if the dealer is local to you. Otherwise there is shipping of the battery, shipping of the core and possibly unwillingness of the dealership to actually ship the battery.

But back to my real query here... the toyota parts website is showing me a list of 50 dealers, but only one of these list entries actually contains a link that lets me see stock/price/terms etc. I'm trying to figure out if this is because only one dealer in Pennsylvania cares to sell parts online, or if the site is glitching out or what. Any advice?

As far as I know, no dealer will ship. But why you want to when you will need to return your old battery for refund of the $1350 battery deposit?

Best to do a search with the part number.

I saw the blank price and was concerned that they were going to discontinue production of the new batteries. But obviously the Prius C is still in production, so it's good to know it’s likely a shipping issue.

For future reference, does anybody know of an online discount dealer within a reasonable drive of Minnesota?

If you are DIY and looking for a battery for your 2005 Prius, the best deal is the kit of new Cells from @2k1Toaster here for $1600 delivered. You can then sell any good used modules to recover some of the cost. The website link is in my signature.

It’s the dealer’s prerogative to participate selling through the parts.toyota.com website. For whatever reason they are not. You can call the non-participants and ask. Maybe they “missed the memo”.

I have nothing against the cylindrical cell replacements, but for the money I would sooner go with an OEM battery that’s been well-proven over the last 15 years. I spent some time in the phone with @ericandbecky last weekend, and he made a good point about resale value with the aftermarket cells being greatly diminished because the car would no longer have a core as a credit against a new or refurbished pack.

I'm hoping I don't need one, but like to have a plan in the event that I do. It is 12 years old, after all.

Considering the core can be sold on ebay for like 600-700, and the cylindrical cells should last 5-10 years.. for myelf at least the idea of resale doesn't really cross my mind. Heck my 2007 fully loaded prius with 200k miles is worth only 3k according to kbb/edmunds. So yes.. you can use the core in the future.. or with the cylindricals.. you can sell them and get that free money upfront ;).

OK then, why are you wasting time asking about a part for your new car that does not need repair?
