If you want a front row seat to a view of Mt. Saint Helens, you better bring your press pass. one of the best seats to view the vulcano is the Coldwater Lake Overlook. However, when i went there, it was banned to all except the press.

i can see why... unlike the first explosion when the best pictures was taken by an amateur despite weeks of warning of the imminent eruption. this time they were making sure that didnt happen again.

well that didnt stop the hundreds of people from setting up on the sides

Not sure I'd want a front row seat. This is said to be the kind of explosion that could (not for sure) send boulders flying for miles.

So do the media send every reporter who survived the hurricane coverage to this prime observation site? "Don't worry - it's as far from Florida as a[n] (lower 48 states) American can get."

Of course, there's the opportunity to get that PERFECT picture for the 2006 PriusChat calendar!

well for weeks they have been saying that this eruption will be nothing like the 1980 eruption... that is up until yesterday.

now they are saying that the eruption will most likely be much larger than first expected and the longer it delays, the bigger it will be.

apparently new data suggests that although the force of the eruption MIGHT not be as strong, the amount of ash could be similiar to 1980.

they do caution that the POTENTIAL for a huge eruption is definitely there especially when considering that Mt. Saint Helens is the most active mountain in the most active mountain range in the lower 48's.

the energy released from the 1980 eruption was said to be enough to provide the entire worlds complete energy needs for the next 150 years. sure does make one feel pretty insignificant in this world doesnt it??
