After only 3 months, the rubber seal on the door is starting to disintegrate. I haven't been able to get anyone to answer my phone calls at my dealer, but I'm sure this type of issue is unacceptable and should be covered by warranty.
3 months wear... from new? I see heavy scratches on the inner B pillar trim too. Besides the tears/ holes there are "heavy" wear marks on the WS. My first thought is to look at the door; is there something stuck on the door jam wearing and tearing the WS? My second though is something (like a sheet of plywood or snow skis) was hauled/ placed into the vehicle damaging the WS. I am not so sure this is a product deterioration, yet good luck wished.
I agree with this looking like it's wear/abuse related and not product defect. My first guess would be the driver was wearing some type of work belt or big cell phone case and it was rubbing against the door seal and B-pillar trim every time they got in and out.
I agree it might look wear-related, but it certainly is not wear. Nothing is contacting the weatherstripping rubber. The material is crumbling, despite no exposure to either UV or physical contact. There has been no stress on the rubber in any way since I bought the car new about 3 months ago.
Then what's scuffing up the B-pillar trim and how are you so sure it isn't also rubbing the door seal? Also, are you doing anything odd with the seat belt?
