Looking at a pre-owned 2007 Prius, dealer site says Touring but I'm not so sure of that. Has 124K miles on it. Took a look at it last Sunday, (dealer closed) looks to be in good shape, (but they all do at the dealer).

Car FAx shows oil changed every 5K miles, which was about every 2 months. One owner, it seems, from location of oil change I'm guessing a long commute.

    Dealer asking about 11K.

Does this sound like a decent deal, or should I look for something with less miles. I will say Prius's in this area area "dear" price wise, dealers are asking the same as 2011 new sticker for low mileage 2009-2010 Prius's and adding a $2k "market adjustment" markup for new ones.

This car would be to replace an older Buick that still runs ok but only gets about 29 highway and 24 city. Got "sticker shock" last time I filled it up I guess.

Have one 2007 Prius already, took it in for service and sales manager stopped by, said he'd buy it back for about 2 grand more than we paid him for it. We're like "yeah, that's attractive but then we'd have to buy another Prius and they're too expensive!"

Unfortunately gas prices have started climbing again....so yeah...prii are getting expensive (esp with options) and tourings are rare around my parts at least

I saw one advertised here on craigslist for $7900, a 2006 with 142,000 miles. The market seems to be getting softer. If yours is a Touring, then it is on the expensive side of reasonable but still not bad. If not a Touring, then it is a little high. The fact that you already have a Prius is a plus, so that you know the risks of getting one with mileage that high.

Well dealers can ASK what they want, What they ask and what they would wind up selling it to us are two different things. The other pre-owned units have been sitting on their lot for close to a month. Way to long for a high demand vehicle in short supply..

Sounds decent (I reside in CA though). The important part of purchasing a used vehicle for me is clean car fax, proper maintenance and decent interior/exterior condition. Sounds like this vehicle meets all the above.

Sounds like a good deal to me. If you are OK to own 2 same cars then go ahead.

But you can also consider one Prius for most commute and buy other kind of car for luxury/utility/whatever purpose.
