Hoping John only leased his. Outright early owners really took a depreciation beating. Contrast that with the prius. The guy I sold our genII Prius to - no fault of his own, totaled it & the insurance company gave him more, way more than what he paid for it.

    2024 MSRP=$43K; 18K cash back on lease or $2.5K cash + 0% for 72mo finance loan

    2025 MSRP=$37K; 10K cash back on lease or same $2.5K cash + 0% for 72mo finance loan

That's what's currently offered at my local dealerships, but you must take delivery of inventory on the lot...... WoW, knocked $6K off MSRP + 1 year free unlimited charging @ any EVgo charger + Toyota's 2 years of free maintenance.
They're really pulling out all the stops to move these cars........:LOL::ROFLMAO::whistle:

A lease sale over 39 months period penciled out to <$30K for a 2024 bZ4x

There was an article earlier in the year stating it was cheaper to lease a BZ4X XSE than a Camry LE, which is the base trim.

I am starting to see them out in the wild and they look fairly decent from the outside... But the fact that every other EV maker puts the entire system underneath the car leaving storage in the front and rear of the vehicle and Toyota fills the entire front of the car under the hood with the EV system is not only embarrassing, but it comes across like Toyota is more interested in keeping their parts vendors in business than building a simplified design that not only costs less to manufacture in the long run, but actually competes with same storage space standards that other EV makers provide.

Or as one pro reviewer of the bz4x suggested, it nearlly seems like they're trying to build an EV with existing parts inventory and only minor modifications rather than a full "from the ground up" redesign that EV requires.

Most concerning of al though is the person on here who's bought almost every iteration of Prius and is incredibly loyal and this person has a wealth of knowledge about the bz4x, but when prompted, they offer no review of there likes and dislikes despite having an entire website about all their Prius. Is the bz4x so inferior that they gave up their 1/4 century journey being loyal to Toyota hybrids and now EV?

That is exactly what they are doing. Toyota's predictions/hopes was for a slower transition to EVs. So they went with a modified TNGA platform for EVs. This would allow them to assemble the cars on the same lines as ICE models. With slow roll out and low sales, this was lower cost. GM did this for the Spark EV and Bolt. Unfortunately for Toyota, years have past since those models, EV adoption is faster, and their main competitors are using BEV platforms.

Maybe too busy defending Toyota in comments sections.

His posts come in basically these varieties these days:

    • Toyota made the b4zx bad intentionally so they could get feedback from customers.
    • GM is bad because they're selling too many EVs to non-GM customers.
I almost feel like he knows he bought a turd and is only putting minimal efforts into his online presence to keep up appearances.

The very 1st Nissan Leaf iterations were turds ... having assured an early spot & acquiring VIN 000659.
It takes a couple years for the truly bad experience to sink in, & for disgust to grow. Lessons learned? Oh yeah

I can't believe that after all these years nissan still sells the leaf without any active thermal management for the battery. It's mind boggling.

Had Toyota come out w/ the bz4 several years earlier with its now lowered price .... it would have been considered ½way decent by most.

Looking at 2024 sales, they were just less than the bz4.

Agreed, mostly. Even against the Bolt it would have struggled, but the awd would have been an advantage.

Against cars like the EV6 and Equinox EV, it's a poor choice.

It was designed in an echo chamber, with Toyota not looking out to see what others were doing. They did the same with the gen4 Prius Prime. The result is a plug in a generation behind everyone else.

2024 might have been the last year of production.
