Hey.... Just another quick question, probably a dumb one.... but should my power button be lit and colored when the car is on? Right now, it's not lit at all while the car is on.
Ignore this I was wrong Should be ****** (as opposed to red (or purple, or cyan, or aquamarine, or....))
green = ready (on) amber = accessories off = off Did it ever light up to either green or amber? In other words, did it ever work properly? Does it light at all now to either color?
Whoops, I was wrong. When running power button light is off. When first starting is red for a few seconds until ready light by speedometer is on. Also amber when in Accesory mode. (off then hit button once without stepping on brake.) Think it is green only when in Ig-On Mode (hit button again for a second time without stepping on brake) This is where you reset the Maintenence Req'd light, the Reverse beeper, etc. Sorry about the earlier post. Jon
When I hit power to turn the car on, it's amber momentarily, then it's nothing. I was under the impression it should be green, right?
Memory is shot Sorry, my memory ain't what it used to be. green = accessories amber = "IG-ON" (all accessories) off = either off or ready When the hybrid system is on, there is no light on the power button. Button sequence: foot off brake: hit button = green, accessory hit button = amber, IG-ON hit button = off, off foot on brake: hit button: amber for few seconds then off, ready mode see page 130-131 of the owner's manual.
I've had my car since Feb. this year. The light would be amber when in "IG-ON" mode, and always lit and green in "Ready" mode. However - SINCE THE SSC40D SERVICE, this is no longer the case!! My power light now is in green if in "IG-ON" mode, amber briefly when starting to go to ready mode, then NOT LIT in Ready mode! I'm 80% sure this is a "feature/glitch" of the software patch for the 40D recall - check your car and see if you find the same. I plan on calling the dealer and asking about this as well. -m.
interesting, I was in the wifes 2k4 today and decided to try the light sequence and it's off when ready. When the scc40d notice started to make the rounds I called Toyota and they said that her car wasn't part of the recall. I had doubts to wether or not I was getting the straight scoup. So maybe it wasn't after all.
The real question is - why would they change this as part of the 'recall' campaign? To me, the way the button was before - green means ready, amber means ig-on, off means off - that makes more sense than how it is now! Why would they change this? -m.
It's to safe energy of course! Even though the energy usage of a LED isn't that big, having that light off on all Prii saves at least a bit of energy! So even when it's off, the light is 'green'.
If that's true, then why does the automatic mirror dimmer default to on with the indicator led light on? I would like to have that stay off until I turn it on.
