Well... maybe I am totally mis-remembering…

Last week the Aux Battery in my 2005 discharged after the dome light stayed on overnight
as to not to start the car. After two jumping attempts I got the car running again.

But… I could have sworn before this occurred, the Power Button showed green when the car was in Ready Mode. Now when I press start, the power button turns yellow for a couple seconds, then goes blank. Car runs fine.

Is it just my imagination that the Power Button LED was green when Ready?
And/or is there a way to have it be green? (I have a problem leaving the car running… any additional indicator would help. :) )

The Power button LED should be green in acc. mode and ready mode.

My power button LED is green in ACC, orange in IG ON, and when I go into READY it flashes orange and then goes off and stays off.

Is the external "Beep-Beep-Beep" not enough? Is your MFD usually off?

I can't see the light on the power button when it's on, So I can't count on it as an indicator. (Steering wheel is in the way, usually)

Yes I just went out and checked it to be sure. It's off when it's on. :D

    Sadly, no and no.
But I really thought the green light was on in Ready. I thought maybe in my attempts to power-up the car when the AuxBat died, I had accidentally changed it to some different mode...
    Ah well... thanks.

Power modes and their indications start on page 130 in the 2004 owner's manual.

Wasn't there an old thread in the pre-pre PriusChat crash (i.e. before January) where someone said earlier cars had the green light on in READY while later cars didn't?

IIRC, that was the case with the early cars, but the earlier SSC did away with the green light while the car was in the ready mode even in those.

I think I read it in a post by Evan Fusco.

Alright, so the conclusion is no light in READY mode then?

Yes. Differentiating between Off and READY can be determined by looking at the dash. If it is blank, the car is off. If it is lit with READY near the shift display, it is in READY.
