I'm looking to spend around 15,000 here. I'll link you to the ad for the car. Is 14966 a good price? What should I ask about/look for when I test drive it? Thanks for your time! Baton Rouge, LA used 2010 Toyota Prius BASE - Team Honda, Baton Rouge, Hatchback, 1.8L 4 cyls, Hybrid
Carfax said it is $370.00 above book value, so the dealer should come down about $800.00. Look for dents and dings!! And test drive the Prius.
Looks good, price is a little high tho for that year and mileage. Aside from the obvious like accidents, good maintenance records etc. etc. you should be good to go. One thing I would definitely do is find a decent long downhill to test the charging of the HV battery, somewhere where you can apply the breaks at full charge to make sure it charges to at least the second line on the battery display. Another than that take it to a mechanic of your choice to have it checked out. If it checks out then buy it and enjoy not having to fill up at the pumps as much!
Thanks for the replies so far. This car is from a "certified" mechanic, team honda. Does that mean that I can trust them? I don't know a good mechanic to take it to.
According to the Carfax, the dealer has had this car for sale for 4 months. I have no knowledge of the Prius market in your area, but I wonder if this is an ordinary occurrence.
That's an interesting point.... I hope I don't get there and the thing is a piece of junk... I'll let y'all know. I'll be there in about 45 minutes
Well, the car was okay. There was a leak from under the front right side of the car. Was it condensation from the a/c? There was also a weird "smudge" between the dash readout and the glass over it. How did it get there? The salesman tried to say it was condensation.
I feel this car is overpriced. Many have purchased new for around $21000 recently. The smudge is a defect in early 2010 models, it's condensation but on the inside and can't be cleaned unless taken completely apart. Many that noticed it early got the part replaced under warranty.
Oh, okay. The carfax says there's some part that's still under recall. I'm guessing that's not it though. I'm thinking about passing on this car. I may try to talk them down on the price though. Let me ask y'all a question: do you feel like there's a huge blind spot on this car? The back windshield seems so small, coupled with the headrests being in the way.
The blind spot is my wife's only complaint. As long my mirrors are positioned correctly, I don't notice a blond spot at all.
I have sold cars and after 4 months they will come down on price. I would offer $2,500 less and work it from there
