Possible to remove front passenger seat from 2010?

There are a lot of electronics in that seat, including airbag sensors, heated seat if you have it, and side airbag??? All of those may just have plugs you can disconnect but I wonder if the computer would go nuts if those links were severed.

 

I'm having a healthy laugh at this thread.

 

The 2010 Prius has a large cargo area with out the removal of the seats. I managed to put an entire (handles removed but still in the car) Bowflex TC5300 treadclimber in the back. It was a close fit because of its 63" legnth and Approx 1 foot in height for the base unit.

 

I can speak for the Gen2 seats with airbag removal -

1) Disconnect the accessory 12V battery and wait at least 90 seconds

2) Disconnect all connectors underneath seat

3) Remove plastic caps over rear mounts

4) Loosen / remove all 4 mount bolts and remove seat


Note - do not disconnect electrical under seat with battery connected or you might deploy seat airbag. I don't know the cost to fix seat up, but it might cost a bundle.

 

Not to mention airbags have killed people. I was NOt comfortable when I removed the seats on my Gen II to do the leather, but all went well. I followed the same steps as you advize.
