Nothing really new in the latest email...

Just reminding everyone who pre-registered to log in and pick their dealer and also contains a link to a new Prius Projects Campaign for the plug in Prius.

The linked site I clicked to for more information said something about "extended ev range" the 'footnote' called out something like 10-15 miles at upto highway speeds. Perhaps I missed that level particular take on the ev range before....

    Here it is
    And [1] is

I am pretty sure I remember reading those footnotes when clicking previously on the site.

Yep. I'm just on a different computer now. I hadn't looked at the Toyota mobile site before. It just looked different this time, I guess.

Do we have any idea how the online ordering will work? How is price set or negotiated?

Unfortunately, no, they're sending out these little 'teaser' emails to let us know they haven't forgotten us but there's no real information held within them yet.

Signed up at my local dealer.

Would really like to have a better idea when the vehicle will come out.

    I'm picking up a CT200h for now.

You're picking up a ct200h just to hold you over until the plug in comes out and then you will get rid of it? That could be some hit if you only have to wait say 8 to 10 months.

Noone has said anything about the artsy Prius decals Toyota is going to more fully reveal on Sept. 27th, and eventually make available for sale. Wonder if there is any significance to that date, i.e., possible indicating earlier than expected ordering and delivery of the plug-in.

I wouldn't look that much into it. Delivery is still scheduled for the Spring. Ordering will take place this fall sometime, I have a feeling.

The production version of the Prius is supposed to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto show which takes place Sept 13 - Sept 25 so I expect to see lots of announcements coming out right after that. I wouldn't expect pricing for the US until the LA Auto show in mid November, or the Detroit show in January but since orders are supposed to start up in November my bet is that Toyota will announce details at the LA show.

I got an email from a local dealer saying the registration for the plug-in Prius will be ending on or near August 22nd. That's only a few days away so we shall see.

One thing that worries me is some dealers are taking deposits to hold your place in line (get it first) for the plug-in when I thought the Prius Team said first in first out when we place our orders online. Seems like some dealers are seeing it differently.

Nah, I'll be holding on to the CT200h for probably 5 years. These are work vehicles for me and my employees. Right now we have 3 company vehicles that get really lousy mileage and are expensive to repair.

One is on the market now, that I can replace with the CT200h, then I can sell another one off maybe 6 months down the road when I expect the PHV to be coming in.

I really like the CT200h, but with the amount of driving my guys do the PHV's access to the carpool lane would be a huge advantage.

Yeah, it sounds like the prius phv is going to be HUGE in California due to the HOV lane access. Between that and the availability of locations you guys have out the on the west coast to recharge, it makes me mad that NYC has not and seems to have no plans on 'catching up' anytime soon.

The email I received from the Prius mailer was to a choose a dealer. I had already chosen a dealer but it was nice they were sending out the reminders.

Really, the information of the Toyota comments lines are about over a week old.
So, yesterday, when I opened the email I though I received it a week to late but now I comprehend that more than one is in the same boat.

I really displike that HOV lane access for vehicles that will be running on gas on the highway. People will buy PHP (or is that PIP) just to get on the HOV and never bother to plug it in.

Where is there any proof of that?

We're becoming a society that routinely plugs in portable devices anyway.

Why wouldn't a readily available burden ease from $4 gas not be used, especially when all it takes is a standard 110-volt outlet?

Because it's tailpipe emission is about the same as an EV emission running with an average electricity.

Should we ban the EVs from the HOV lane if they are charged with electricity generated from coal?

How can there be any "proof" when PIP is not on sale ?
