Plug-in hybrids not to reach commercial volumes until 2017

    The hybrid vehicle battery market will reach $2.3 billion by 2015. In contrast the normal lead acid automotive starter battery market is presently about $2 billion. It states plug-in hybrids are not likely to reach commercial volumes for 10 years, and Lithium batteries will not be dominant in HEVs until 2011.
