I'm not familiar with Prius options and would appreciate some advice.

Will the autodimming rear view mirror be able to be added to the basic model (before or after delivery), or will it only work with the Advanced?

The Advanced sound system and display - what capabilities will it add that relate to the operation of the car and the hybrid drive system?

    Thanks for any help.

Don't worry about the mirror. That auto-dimming mirror can be put in any Toyota by the dealer. Or you. They charge too much for it.

The Advanced sound system is the JBL amplified premium system with a larger, higher res. display that includes Plug-in specific Entune apps (like battery charge level transmitted to you smartphone) for the adv. model only

The engine/transmission/battery/performance are identical on the two models.

    Re: PIP Options - Mirror

Thanks! So other than things that are external to the car (smartphone, charging station locations, etc.) and the display size, the Advanced system has no more functionality within the car than the standard one?

Was there a heads-up display, or am I thinking of another model?

yes to hud, nav is hard drive based, so should be faster.

i have the radar cruise and love it, along with the radar based pre-collision system.

Thanks. Sorry to be dense, but what is nab?

Looks like hud is only on the Advanced model. What does it display?

And do people find it useful, or distracting?

I drive a Lexus HS250 with the HUD display, it mainly displays the speed you are traveling. Also, has arrows for the nav system so that you can just look there not on the nav screen. When you touch the buttons on the steering wheel, the HUD displays it so that you know what button you are touching without looking at the steering wheel. Radio station. It basically prevents you from looking down and you're always looking forward at the road.

    yep.

    HUD -
New Prius also features a Head-Up Display that projects key information onto the base of the windscreen, so the driver can read it without taking eyes off the road.
Displayed information includes vehicle speed and a monitor that shows how economically the car is being driven.
Prius models equipped with satellite navigation also benefit from the head-up display of turn-by-turn and distance-to-exit information.
The display can be adjusted for height and brightness, or may be switched off.
