While playing tourist in Tokyo, I stopped in the Toyota Amlux car display building. They had a cutaway Prius, so I took some photos.

    no further pictures

The pictures above are the main bit of interest. The hood was also cut away, but I can see more in my car by just lifting the hood... There was also a video of the self-parking Prius in action that I saw but didn't photograph.

I like the cutaway of the electric motors and PSD.

Although, looking at the PSD, sure doesn't open up any clues on how it works.

Yeah, the Toyota Amlux in Ikebukuro is quite impressive, floor after floor of hi-tech Toyota goodness. Also check out the Toyota showrooms in Odaiba if you go to Tokyo.
I took some Prius pictures in Japan this year at Amlux and other places, I have them posted in the
photo album - international section of this site.

Thanks for those pics, halfbreed. It looks as though the Japanese version has the Power button in an easier-to-reach location.

The cut-away view Prius is no longer on display at the Amlux in Tokyo. Good thing we have the photos to enjoy!

For the technically minded, here's a photo of the nav unit under the passenger seat of the Japanese model:

I can not display any of these images. Can someone offer a suggestion on how to fix this?
    Thanks, Hank

power button in an easier to reach place? why, where is it on the american version? - those photos show it in the same place as the australian version...

Seems to me the australian version is better than the USA one in many respects...

hard to say Hank.... what OS are you running, browser??, is your system current with all available security fixes?

could be your security level is set too high.

do you see a symbol in place of the photo? if so, try right clicking the symbol and select "show picture" or something similiar.

if that works, go to your internet settings and add this site in your "trusted sites" list.

    heh :)
    'rabble rabble rabble!"
no, it's just that I have been scanning the topics and have noted a few differences.. like the unlocking of only the front doors, the seat belt beeping and some other points that I can't remember right now

    doesn't matter.

the door unlocking sequence is programable as is the seat belt chime and the BU alarm. It's called marketing by the car execs.

Dave, that did it. I had my firewall set to block all "Banner Ads" in addition to "Pop-Ups". Apparently PriusChat photo images are treated as Banner Ads, whatever they are....I guess I'll find out soon enough. :(

    Thanks, Hank

On cars with the steering wheel on the correct side, the power button is just below the right-most vent, in the silver trim.

They had to move it up on top of the dashboard for people that drive on the wrong side. Looks a bit daft if you ask me.
