Well, I've finally had some time to post some pictures up of the new Prius. I picked it up on August 29, so I've been driving it for a few days now... I'm very impressed. So far I've driven around 450km and I still haven't used half a tank of petrol yet! (sorry I'm from Australia, so please excuse the Aussie jargon :) )

Anyway, here are some pictures and please be advised that I am the first member to start the 'Cool dudes in a black prius club' (if someone has beaten me to it, please let me know, I could be wrong!)

Cool car, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side. I looked at black, but I'm a lover of blue so of course mine is Seaside Pearl.

The steering wheel is on the wrong side because being down under we have to drive up side down.

Do you think we could start a new group, "Wussy Wimps in White Prii? I think white is the complete sum of all colors! Black is not the perfect color, it is the total lack thereof. (Vanilla is my favorite ice cream also.) White is cool: look at snow.

I dedicated myself to this philosophy early on: I'm a white guy. I feel so alone sometimes!

FLAWED philosohy, Al, flawed! Snow is NOT just white, but many colors (blue being one of the biggies)...last I checked...but I live in a (mostly) snow-less part of California, too...although I grew up in Montreal, which was anything BUT snowless (at least until global warming came along... :p ).

Ummmm...there is a PROBLEM with a thread with "black Prius" in the title being overrun with cool chicks? (and please don't mind us, kr...we do tend to get more than a bit silly now and again...how about a nice rousing chorus of "Waltzing Matilda?")

Here in CA...we look forward to rain sometime around Columbus Day. (Which is in October....)

 Sorry mate, I think I was first  I posted last week after buying mine hehe.

How do you like living in Melbourne? I like the new plates, my friend has an old one, and the saying is "Victoria, On The Move" haha I thought Melbourne was a very beautiful city, nice and clean! I went to the Toyota dealer when I was there, and we talked for a good 30 minutes about Prius'! He said he loved them, and I was concerned because there weren't many on the road. I love the side turn indicators.

Good job, and I am sorry but I don't miss those Antarctic winds :p

Spot on, I do actually remember you posting last week. Well, at least we have a club with two people in it so far :)

I love Melbourne, I've lived here for all 26 years of my life so I guess I'm biased. But I can honestly say that out of all of the places I have been around the world so far, I find Melbourne to be the most liveable city in the world, followed by San Diego at a close second place. I'm sure many will disagree, but that's just my opinion.

With regards to the number plates... when the Kennett government was in power, they changed our number plates from 'Victoria - Garden State' to 'Victoria - On The Move'. Now that Bracks is in power, he changed them to 'Victoria - The Place To Be'. You only see the slogans in the full sized number plates. A lot of us choose to have the 'slimline' plates which can only say VIC next to them.

With regards to Priuses in Australia... yes you are right, there are hardly any of them. In the past four years, I reckon I've seen about six Priuses on the road, and now with mine, that makes seven. To be honest, the price of a Prius in Australia is VERY expensive, the model I got (iTech) costs around $50,000AUD which is probably above the average salary in Australia. I feel this is the reason why not many people choose to buy them. The base model is $40,000AUD, which again is out of reach for most people.

Thanks to everyone else for their humerous comments :)

    Cheers,
    Kent

I live in Mandurah in Western Australia. We have a population of around 70,000 and only 100km from Perth.

On any given day I can gurantee to see at least two other Prius'. To date I have counted at least 12 in our small town.

I agree that they are $$ but I bought it for the techno not the l/100km however, coming out of a TI 4.8 litre Patrol which did around 25l/100km into the Prius which we get 4l/100km the saving is great! Read AU$50.00 per day! (Our school and general runs add up to about 200km per day!)

Never use the "B" it just spins the ICE, we were getting 5.6l/100km before we stoped using "B"

I've had a black Prius since Jun of 2004 - I love it. I see more of them now, but at the time, in Virginia around DC, it was unique. Not sure how cool I am, but I'll join the club!!

I'll join the club! I'm amazed by how many magnetic grays showed up on that color poll. I admit I wanted a gray but now I prefer black. There are fewer of us out there!

Nice car but the parking lot makes me drool. Is that Sequoia NP? It looks like the parking lot near Alta Peak (very sweet hike).
