Picked up a 2014 PiP tonight - used.
    • Toyota Certified Used
    • 23k miles
    • Totally clean in and out
    • Winter Gray
    • Base model

We've already got a 2015 Prius Five - and we used to have a Chevy Volt, so we're used to the whole plug-in situation. Car seems great so far, drove the test drive and whole ride home on electric power.

I've been saying, we probably won't see a plug-in car with that PiP1 cargo space for a long while....minivan maybe but not a car.

Love the color!! Finally someone else buys a Magnetic grey. Blizzard Pearl seems to be the norm.

Congratulations on the beautiful new car. I love the color. The 2014 PIP (brilliant white metal flake) that I just bought in Buffalo from a Ford dealership had only 23,400 miles but isn't certified. It is like new inside and out and I managed to talk the salesman down to 17,000 dollars. Is that a good price? I love it so far, I especially liked the 64 mpg that I got driving it the 100 miles back to my home in Pa.

I got mine for almost exactly the same price - they ate a few lease payments on our outgoing RAV4, so it works out the same.

It amazes me that a car that sold for nearly 30,000 dollars would depreciate 13,000 dollars in just two years. I thought that Toyota vehicles were known to hold their value or could it be that buyers are afraid of hybrid/plugin technology? I'm not complaining though because I'm extremely happy that I purchased a nearly new condition low mileage car that will save me a lot of money in gas and helps reduce my carbon footprint.

Well, PiPs sold as low as $26k inclusive of Toyota cash back offers, and then you have to subtract $2500 Federal tax rebate which impacts resale. Until a year ago, 2012 PiP low miles was holding at $20-21K but the sales price came falling down fast last 12 months with price of gasoline.

In California, it was as low at $25K, and then subtract $2500 Federal tax rebate and $1500 California rebate. If you bought at the low point, depreciation is actually very little.

On another post here, we have a Prius Chat member trade-in (actually my Toyota dealer) selling similar 2014 PIPA I think it was $23k range for the Advanced, so I am not moving on that price but keeping my eye to see if it hangs around for price decreases. Probably not interested yet but just for fun watching, but I'd be curious of the used-car delta for Advanced.

Why did you go from a Volt to a PiP? We usually hear of people going the other way.

We got rid of the volt (2012) after a 2 year lease. The back seat (and especially the door opening) is SMALL. It won't fit a rear facing infant seat without pushing the passenger seat WAY forward - to the 'not even comfortable for someone 5'5" range.

We tested the new volt, but it's pricey and lost some of it's quirky weirdness. I'm guessing we'll be back to 2 plugin cars in a few years, just not sure if it'll be a Tesla 3, a Bolt, or something new...

Wow, congrat. I am jealous, I did not pay like 4k more for PIP and bought only Prius 3gen. Now I am too lazy to go through all the pain to buy car from different state and do all paperworks + sell my current prius. I am just sure, what my next car will be.... I love prius so far.
