Philadelphia Area Prius Mechanic?

    What do you need done or expect to need?

    In 94000 miles my maintenance has been fluid changes, a 12v battery swap, a set of tires, two tire patches, and wiper blades. So far, stuff anyone, even the owner can do.

    I'm at 75K and do simple stuff - air filters, tire rotations, etc. I have my local dealership do my oil changes because I bought a package deal for that with the car. I was thinking, after reading service recommendations on this forum :), that it would be good to have my transaxle fluid changed (drop and fill). I don't have a physical garage or a lot of equipment, so it is hard for me to work on the car.

    My local dealership replaced my intermediate steering shaft on recall, and returned the car with the steering wheel cockeyed.
    They replaced my inverter coolant pump on recall, but then forgot to plug it back in! So I experienced the very situation the recall was supposed to prevent. They also took me for a ride on a 12v replacement before I knew better. They did replace a front bearing at 63K that seems to have gone OK, but that really isn't a good record overall, so I am trying to find options.

    If they tried to return my car with the steering wheel off center they would have found it right back in line. Considering their track record I wouldn't give them another chance.

    I share your situation. I'm getting my oil changed this week at a school because they have a lift & I'll be there anyway. Since the transaxle fluid is just a drain & fill perhaps you could get it done at a local school with an auto shop.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I did take it back and have them straighten the wheel but that took several more hours. The pump issue was inexcusable and had the potential to do real damage to the inverter. I hope that particular mechanic no longer is working for them; I certainly made my feelings known up the chain.
