There are lots of posts about phantom drain for the battery. I was wondering if any of you have had phantom drain of the gas. I've been able to go for the past 4 months on pure EV mode only. However, the gas meter has gone down a whole notch. Gas cap is tight (never actually been open). Could it be because of the cold weather? 1 whole notch is quite a bit. Over a gallon Thanks in advance
welcome! are you sure it's pure ev, what does the ratio say? might be just poor measuring electronics. i think if there was a leak, you'd know it. try pumping some gas and see how much she takes.
No gas phantoms from my Prime. Haven't used gas in 4 months. Gas gauge also hasn't moved from where it was in August.
All that I can come up with is if you've parked on a steep hill a few times, the gauge is most accurate only on flat, level roads and with the fuel not splashing around...
Bisco, you were right. Checked my EV use and it was 84%. I'm not sure when I use gas, but I guess I do. I plug at home and work and always have extra miles on my EV range when I arrive at my destination. I rarely go above 70 mph. Acceleration is slow and steady. No idea when ICE comes on
Not on the Prime. I've gone as long as a few weeks without using the engine before. Others have gone months.
there is a thread here on 'why is my engine starting'. there can be multiple reasons. a big one is using the front defrost, that's an automatic. it's so quiet and smooth, you often can't tell that it has come on, obviously.
