There is a company that sells HKS brand racing spark plugs for the Prius for $80+$25 S&H on E-Bay. Is there any benefit to getting "racing" spark plugs for an 07 Prius? Will there be any performance benefit from these plugs versus the standard OEM plugs? Please advise.
Hi UNWIRED, The Prius already has very hi-tech plugs for the engine's operating condition. Racing Plugs are not appropriate. Racing Plugs are intended running the engine at high throttle allot, if not all of the time. The Prius does the opposite. It runs the engine for a while and then shuts off. So, hotter plugs (plugs that heat up the tip more quickly) are appropriate for a Prius. Whereas a Racing Plug is intended to keep the tip as cool as possible, to avoid the tip melting under the extreme service of long duration wide-open-throttle operation. Racing Plugs solve the opposite problem than the Prius presents. Its just as difficult to keep plugs un-fouled in Prius operation, as is it to keep them from melting in racing operation. So, the Prius has special iridium tipped plugs. You really do not want to change these.

Believe it or not the Prius OEM plugs are high end Iridium plugs. Not the cheapo's that are standard on most every other car.
yup morpheus is right, the prius even 01-03 have ngk iridium spark plugs, the best spark plugs in my opinion.
