Hi all! I am new to the forum and have a 2010 prius. I took it in for warranty work for God-awful rattling and let them know the passenger seat shakes like crazy (while driving) when no one is in it. They attempted to fix the rattles but they did not really address the seat (which also makes a weird noise as it shakes). Their notes said they observed the shaking and that it was not excessive! I think any amount is excessive :) Anyway, has anyone else had this problem and do you know off a fix? It does not shake all the time, but seems to at higher speeds and it is the near the top (headrest area) where I can see it visibly shaking from side to side.

    Thanks!

    Hey,
here also the passenger seat shaking. This is similar to my 10000€ Aygo, in this car i can accept that but not in my 33000€ Prius. Another proof that Toyota did not take the inside build quality serious. My rattles are the center cluster (speedometer), passengerside dash speaker, point where center console and armrest meet. What are/were your rattles ?

    KR & happy holidays !

Check the plastic piece along side the passenger seat on the bottom facing the door. I think people can step on it. I found a clip inside unattached. I clipped it back in and put some foam in that area. I notice the rattles seem to almost echo in the car. You have to check everything. Any loose items in in the consoles or the rear seem to make noise. It is possible to get rid of most of the noise.

There was another post about this about a clamp on the bottom of the seat that was not secured. Try searching the posts as I don't have it readily available.

Make sure it's also latched correctly.

Every car i have owned has had seats that shaked, My Prius is the worst. I think it has to do with the fact that the seats weight half as much as my last car.

Welcome to the Prius rattle club. :welcome:

TS-B-0288-08 Front Seat Squeak Noise issued in September of 2008 was updated to cover the 2010 Prius and other Toyotas. Don't know if this applies to your rattle or not but you could remind your dealer to read it.

Most of us have been trying to find out own rattles because, unfortunately, some dealers just don't want to be bothered finding and fixing rattles. Hope you have better luck with yours.

You will notice that all pass seats will shake in all cars and the only way to stop it is to have someone sit there. :)

As for rattles, I have one in my dash that’s driving my nuts. It's that cheap hard plastic. I love my Prius but this is my 1st Toyota since 1985 and I don't see where everyone raves about quality? Most of my other cars had no rattles at all including my American cars.
One thing - none of them got 50 + mpg.

I have my 2010 for 3 weeks now. Notice some rattling noise coming from the right side of the driver's seat. Not sure whether it is the same source as you said but it may be from the stuff in the center console or glove compartments. I'll take out everything from inside and check the source of the noise again. Hopefully not from the passenger seat. Thanks for bring this up.

When you hear the noise put your hand under the center console and gently pull up on it. I bet that will stop the noise.

Thanks for your reply. The sqeeks/rattles that they fixed came from the center console area - where the radio is. They put in their magic foam/felt and then took it for a spin. It still rattled along and they stuffed some more in. That seems to have worked. Only had it back for 1 day so not sure yet, but hopeful.

Now I gotta figure out the headrest shaking and some of the ratlles that are coming from the back seat!

I put my hand under the center console and that's where it's coming from. Thanks
