There are touch up paints.. but let me share your feelings about this.

I had this one passenger that would always swing the door wide open and scratch it up.

You just have to keep cool because the damage is already done...but gosh no matter how many times I tell her to be careful, she does it like a month later. F*#U$@()*

Yes, her car is pretty banged up so she's at least fair.

would there be a OEM toyota touch up paint for sea glass pearl? its not a "special" color from what I gather, but then again, its not exactly a run of the mill solid white or black, looking to head down to my dealership, cost be damned

Toyota themselves sell Sea Glass Pearl touch up.
If you buy and attempt to use some, I would recommend buying good quality small brush at an art supply store.

That is terrible! I baby my cars to death. I'm lucky in that I don't have family or give rides to many people. AND I live in the middle of nowhere so my car isn't around other cars much. I would be heartsick if my new car got scratched like that.

I had the bottom edge of my door scratched on the curb a few times by a careless passenger (wife). I think the secret is to get some paint on it immediately to prevent it from spreading and rusting. I have a 2013 blizzard pearl Prius. The door was scratched down to the bare metal on the bottom edge on 3 occasions. I touched it up with a 1/2 ounce bottle (2 bottles needed for blizzard pearl) from automotivetouchup.com. It's about 18 months after the first scratch and there is no apparent spread of the damage.

Anyhow, you don't have to do a perfect job. Who lays under the door to look for scratches? BTW, I did lay on the ground to get a good view of the scratch while touching it up.

Many professional parts "jobbers" sell Metal Etch.
This treats the metal to prevent rust before primer is applied.
There may be other product names.

If you really wish to go "whole hog" treat the scratch with a rust preventative, get an artists size 00 brush, brush on some primer, sand the primer with 600 grit, then brush on some official Toyota Sea Green touch up paint. Many coats of color over a few days is better than one thick coat. You could even go further and sand the color with 1000 grit sand paper and then polish. IMO the color then clear coat is not necessary...just use the color.

Or just apply the Sea Green paint as the scratch is fresh and call it a day - so to say.

Scratches happened...low slung sport car experience...I put my shoe under the door and I open the door (as a chauffeur would) for my better half when near a curb.

    Have fun.

There'll be a touch-up pen available (dealership should have it, or can get it in), and bottom edge of the door is the easiest place to do a seamless paint job: barely visible, and new paint conforms nicely on that bottom edge. Wipe it down first with some isopropyl alcohol, lie down, get a good light on it, and put a good dab of paint on. Maybe wait half an hour and put a second coat, for good measure. If it's the pen type applicator with clear coat at the other end, I would skip that: in my experience the clear coat just lifts the paint, makes a mess.

Clean it with alcohol put primer on it, then touch up paint. Then monitor the area for water rust intrusion moving forward.

I got 2 new little chips in my windshield. And 2 new small chips on the front "facia". Does that mean bumper?

I'm just going to leave it as is. I'm enjoying the "lived in" look. Time-tested battle scars.

thanks guys! Just got the touch up paint from the toyota parts department of my dealership, it was about 11 bucks,
I guess I need a small primer marker and I am ready to go. I just dont want rust intrusion, as I can see the metal
Will update after I apply it!

Check with your Toyota dealer and see if they have that color of touch up paint for your car. Buy it from the dealer if they have it and touch it up as soon as you can.

@Frederickdawg 's likely right about priming first, but: especially with fresh scratches/scrapes, I've just used the touch up paint, no problem. Bottom edge of the door the paint will gravitate down, be good and thick.

Luckily for OP I don't believe salted roads will be of any concern. I've seen bare metal vehicles in Florida only slightly getting surface rust after many years of being exposed to solely water.

It's a love / hate relationship with the car being designed so low... With our SUV and truck, I don't have as much to worry like I do on this Prius... I feel your pain. That's why I try to park far and distant from any trees, curbs, cars, etc... I drop the passenger / wife VIP style at the front entrance of the store, and then I park at my choice and happily burn some calories by taking the hike / walk... Of course, it's impossible to keep the car perfect - especially if you use it regularly. Blemishes and errors are bound to happen, as bitter as it is to admit.

A friend just did this to my 1-week old Prius. I was wondering if the OP just ended up painting over it?
There are rough edges protruding from the (pretty deep) ding, do anybody have experience sanding them out? or should I use spot putty to fill it in? I'd appreciate any advice.

If you carry passengers regularly, it's likely to happen again - when I had family at home, they'd do it regularly (generally only me these days).

You can either have the attitude that if it happens regularly, it scrapes it clean each time. I've never had rust start from that corner of a door. Or, if it's out of sight (I assume from the photo), and a little touch-up paint - any similar coloured enamel from your shed would protect it.

I wouldn't worry about the putty, just a light sand to clean it prior to touch-up paint.

Alternatively, your crash-repairer would love to fix it for a few hundred dollars - personally, I wouldn't go that way.

That one requires rubbing down and treating with a rust converter like phosphoric acid (as found in Coca cola), to prevent it spreading into the door skin seam, then prime and paint.
