Has anyone found a panel mounted usb extender that will fit into the breakout panel next to the 12V outlet (used for seat heater switches)? I am upgrading the factory radio to a Android Auto capable head unit with a rear USB port and would like to extend it to this location. I have found some panel-mounted USB ports in slightly smaller dimensions but nothing that wouldn't require dremel work.

Going to be very difficult finding an exact match for that panel. What I did was order this from Amazon:

BATIGE USB 3.0 & 3.5mm Car Mount Flush Cable 3.5mm + USB3.0 AUX Extension Dash Panel Waterproof Mount Cable For Car Boat and Motorcycle - 3ft

It has a USB 3.0 port AND a 3.5mm stereo phono port (for AUX) and requires a carefully deployed and sharp 1 1/8" paddle bit/cordless drill to create the opening for the item. Makes for a nice addition. I'd add a pic, but it's still dark here in the High Desert.

Here's a pic of the installation (with center panel removed):

Not answering your question - but wondering what head units you considered?

That looks good, and exactly what I would do if I had seat heaters, but my brain just couldn't handle drilling into the dash next to a blank breakout.

I am installing a Pioneer DMH-1500NEX. At the end of the day I went for the biggest screen, w/ Android Auto, at the lowest price point. If I had more money to blow I would have future-proofed with wireless Android Auto, but at this point only a handful of phones support it.

Do you still need the 12V outlet? I bought a 2-plug USB adapter that replaced the 12V outlet.

Fit perfectly! I installed it in the breakout just below the ignition button.

That is the same one I have. I also installed it under the start button.
I am able to us a short usb and audio cable. Works perfectly.

Also a nice location. It's the spot for the button for the optional automatic parking (which I have never gotten to work properly).
