Has anyone installed a painted bumper from an online source on a gen 3? Do they really come folded? Anyway to get the crease out? Other than a shop, is oem primed the way to go?

I did a Gen2 bumper a couple years ago from lowest price on ebay and yes I was astonished that a freshly painted bumper cover could be folded up without paint damage. They used a huge amount of what seemed like talcum powder on it... Just worked on that same car yesterday replacing a bad temp sensor harness in the battery pack and bumper is still in perfect condition.

From what I read they all come that way. And they should give you instructions to
lay it out in the sun I believe before putting it on.
You should contact the place you purchased it from and they should be able to tell you what to do.
I've been lazy about ordering one online. And I've wondered about that!
Please keep us up to date, I'm sure we're not the only ones with this question! (y)

I think so... Stupid Ebay only keeps a couple years of my Purchase history and I no longer have access to my 2020 purchase history, which was when I bought it.

Of course considering how many ways 2020 was so awful, maybe the less I can remember about that year the better?

haven’t ordered it yet. Gotta ask the wise people on Priuschat first. But it looks like I’ll order it online I got quoted 781 from a body shop.

I think iAauto has a pretty simple video on how to replace it. It’s the finish that makes me wonder if online sources are a huge gamble.

The Gen2 Prius I did it on was a beat up old white one where they collected the check for being rear-ended but waited a long time to repair it... So the quality of the paint didn't matter to them. As I recall when I polished and waxed the paint with some Nu-Shine it seemed kinda low quality but white paint hides that pretty well. And after 2-1/2 years no signs of damage when I was working on that car this week. I'm thinking about buying an unpainted one and teaching myself how to do a carbon fiber like vinyl wrap for my project Prius.

What's the price you're currently looking at for it?
