it's unfortunate. ma dropped theirs altogether, and some states are charging hybrid fees to make up for lost gas taxes.

Humm, can you get fuel cell vehicles in PA? Even if you could, can you refuel it in PA?

Based on the excessive rates by more conservative states like Alabama, they just want to piss-off those rich Liberals driving EVs.

What does this mean for me? I just bought a 08 Prius and I'd assume that qualifies.

What do you do to get the rebate?

Sorry, no rebate for you, because a 2008 Prius is powered by gasoline. The rebate is for cars that can be plugged in for battery charging or fueled by hydrogen or propane.

Additionally the car would still have to have less than 75k on the odometer, and it would have to have been purchased from a registered dealer.

I think PA used to have rebates for "ordinary" hybrids but they expired long ago. The idea behind these rebates is to help get the party started for the very newest technology. Once it catches on, they stop paying out.

It probably means you’ll be paying a special hybrid tax down the road ;)

This was the first year that Ohio charged an additional $100 for hybrid/electric license plate renewal and added 10 cents/gallon to the gasoline tax.

Our forward thinking legislators also passed Ohio House bill 6. A bill handing First Energy $170 million a year to subsidize two money losing coal fired power plants and two nuclear plants. All four were scheduled to close if this bill didn't pass.

The bill added a surcharge to all Ohioan's not just First Energy customer electric bills. The bill also gutted our renewable energy standard and our energy efficiency standards. Ohio already has some of the strictest siting regulations for windmills in the country but First Energy is staying on the offensive.

I don't believe PA ever had a rebate for non-plug-in hybrids. Earlier it was $2,000. for BEV, then dropped to $1750., and now to $750. Although now an additional $1000. rebate for lower income. I'm not going to complain about that.

It might have gotten $500 when bought new. I did for my 2005. That fund is long past now.

Ohio is also one of the few states without smokestack height limits, so the emissions come down in Eastern Pa and NJ.
