    Hi everyone,
I am getting constant/repeating P3190 alarms (that appear and immediately/instantly clear themselves) after I ran out of gas (thank you geico roadside assistance). The alarms only occur while I am slowing down or coasting.

This makes me think that perhaps my fuel filter or pump sucked up some particulate that had been sitting at the bottom of the tank or something....

I am not noticing a difference in performance/noise/vibration.

I have tried flooring it/letting off several times in quick succession and I have tried Lucas injector cleaner and Seafoam.

    Where should I start?

You should start by getting all the codes that car has recorded. You may need a scanner capable to reading all Prius codes

I got a dual P3193 and P3190 code when I first ran out of gas.

I am using an OBD2 Bluetooth adapter and Dr. PRIUS and Torque.

Running out of gas is very hard on an older Prius, especially if the HV battery is older. How is the maintenance on your car?

You could try cleaning the throttle body (and the MAF sensor while you are there).

I would also suggest having fuel pump pressure and volume tested. The pump is cooled and lubricated by fuel, and running out may have started pushing it over the edge. Sometimes I have a fuel pressure gauge taped to the outside of the windshield so I can watch it during a test drive.

P3193 "means" that the ICE wasn't running when it was expected, and that whatever the fault is- it's not something that the ECM is directly monitoring. Carbon goo buildup in the TB or weak fuel pump can cause problems but all the car "knows" is that the engine won't go.

Probably drove it after car ran out of gas and killed the hybrid battery. Quickest way to kill the old battery. Look at the battery monitor on the mfd. Its 1 purple bar or all white and wont recharge to blue.

P3190 is an engine underperforming code, not a battery code.

Then why would the OP be complaining about the P3190 code if "he killed the hybrid battery"?

Maybe he did hurt the battery, or not. But that has nothing to do with the code that he gets.
