p3006 but no modules with low voltage?

    I replaced one module in my battery pack.
    Reinstalled and ran the car for about an hour when the red triangle, CEL, and car w/! icon showed on MFD.
    Scan gage showed p3006. Cleared it, it happened 4 more times over the next couple weeks and 700 miles+/-.
    Pulled the battery pack today, after the car had been sitting 12 hours at below freezing, and tested the modules. All were between 7.9 and 8.2 with most right around 8 volts.
    The only thing I can find that I did wrong on the install was not finishing tightening the 5 main mounting bolts. The mounting bols on the two end brackets, however, we're completely tight.

    Did you test the modules under load. A voltage test on it's own is almost meaningless.

    When I originally tor the pack down I found a module that was 6 volts while all the rest were hovering around 8 so I was hopping for another easy diagnosis.
    I just got my new mini VIC I guess my best bet would be to reinstall and try it out?
    If 3006 is number 6 module which end do I start counting from.

    The code 3006 is for block 6. A block is a pair of modules, and each pair is counted from the ECU end of the battery. So your problem is in module 11 or 12 being the 6th pair of modules.

    Did you inspect your wiring harness closely? It's very common for the little heat sensor tabs to become brittle and snap which will throw codes. They can be soldered fairly easily. Inspect them all. Make sure the modules you replaced have more than 2.5 amp hours and are good modules. There's a lot of junk modules that can read 7.2 plus volts but can not hold a significant charge. The mounting bolts will not affect anything. Make sure your service plug is seated correctly. This will throw codes too. Push it in and slide it down. Good luck!

    The Gen 3 will throw a code for a voltage difference of 0.3V. I am not sure about your Gen 1.

    The voltage range you indicate is 0.3V.

    Use Mini Vci to monitor while driving. You'll have a record of the battery voltages. Look at it and you should be able to see any problems.

    It sounds like the modules were not balance charged before the last assembly. The recommended approach:
    1. measure Ahr capacity of each module - requires an automated approach
    2. balance charge - parallel charge to a common voltage, initial SOC - 7.6-8.0 V is an ideal target
    3. match weak and strong modules as pairs - this keeps the charge-discharge, voltage curves as close as possible
    4. put pairs with weakest modules on the ends and strongest in the middle, the coolest locations
    When modules are not balanced charged, the ones relatively overcharged will 'spike' high first. The undercharged ones will drop out low on a discharge. So a balance charge keeps them as close together as possible.
