Got the triangle on the way home. Stopped by dealer. They showed me P3000;3006;3029 C1259 codes on their diagnostic tool. Pulled up more detailed information on the battery. They reset the code. About 5 minutes later on the highway, my engine revved high, speed dropped. They said pack 16 was low at 16.35. I am ignorant on what to do with this information. They did not give me a quote to replace battery. What are my options? and costs? Do people ship batteries? How heavy? Fairly easy to swap? I'm in Indianapolis. Thanks in advance. here is report http://goo.gl/V0Cnu http://goo.gl/HcgPg
Ok, via Toyota's corporate website (toyota.com), I've used the "Contact Dealer" to request price quote for battery replacement service from 42 dealers within 150 mile range. Do you think I will get any variation on pricing?
Most dealers will hit you for $3000-$4000 for a new Gen1 battery. You can have the battery replaced with a "rebuilt" one. They usually sell for $1400-$1800 + shipping + core. If you are on a budget I have a known good Gen1 battery I'll sell for $1000 delivered + core charge of $400 ($400 refunded once you send old battery back to me in Colorado). They are not hard to install..most shops would charge around $200 to swap it out...although you can do it yourself if you have a few basic tools.
