I got these errors: P0A93 P0420 errors. I need advice on what to do. On another thread I asked about the P0A93 error. I was going to buy the pump and replace... But... a friend said: reset the error, drive around... if the fault is there, it will just come back. Only then replace. I reset. Didn't come back. Then... 3 weeks later, I was driving somewhere long distance... ping... it came up. Someone else (neighbour who's a private car dealer) told me to reset again. All great! AGAIN: long distance drive it came up. This time, I didn't reset. I drove around. The next day... it just disappeared - both errors. I looked up P0420 - says the cat converter isn't reading values. I had my cat converter stolen and had replaced with a Klarius. I thought I would mention. What should I do?? I'll definitely replace pump now (unless someone says otherwise) Could the P0420 error be related to the P0A93 error? Thanks.
Replace the pump for sure as the valves are intermittently sticking The cat code is most likely due to aftermarket cat not being good enough to satisfy the ECU . Might try to find a used good factory catalyst SM-G960U ?
Thanks for the replies guys. Pump: I'll buy and fit. The cat: after doing many hours (days!) of research, I took advice given on this forum and got a Klarius. I got from Eurocarparts (as I bought through someone who worked their, I got a massive discount). I really hope it's not failing. It cost me £110 to get fitting by a mobile mechanic. I don't fancy forking out on another cat converter + pay for fitting again.
Your mechanic neighbor doesn't know much about the prius to be giving you advice. I'm surprised you haven't been stranded yet with the failed pump. Maybe you should roll the dice and go on a cross country road trip? Resetting turns off the warning computers give you, doesn't fix the problem. The inverter pump function is to cool the electric motor, which is a vital part in making the car move. What you're doing is the same as disabling a carbon monoxide alarm when it beeps, then without beeping sounds there should be no more carbon monoxide danger. Problem solved? But worse car scenario, you just buy a used inverter when you're stranded 1000 miles from home, they're cheap on the used market.

Go cheap Ebay if you like replacing the pump frequently. Buy OEM if you want it to last 100,000 miles. Your choice.
