A few days ago, I came home and got the red triangle of death. My OBD reader reported P07AF. I just wanna confirm that the correct plan of action is to replace/rebuild the entire hybrid battery?

Turned my car off and decided I was going to deal with it the next day. I read the codes using my copy of techstream and confirmed that P07AF is the only DTC. I followed the pdfs from the toyota diagnostic manual that everyone shares here, and it says that I should be replacing the hybrid battery assy. cip0a7f.pdf (qclt.com) But using Torque Pro, I see that modules 1 and 14 are a much lower voltage than the rest of the pack. It's actually been like this for about 2 years. I will be doing all the work myself, so would it be more cost-efficient to only replace modules 1 and 14? Or should I just write-off the entire battery and go with a new pack from newpriusbatteries.com? New Prius Battery Kit (GEN2, 2004-2009) - New Prius Batteries LLC

Being able to afford the new battery is not a concern, I just want to make sure I'm being wise with how I spend my money on my baby.

It's always nice if you can make it happen to get a new battery You don't put used or rebuilt batteries in your d cell flashlight yeah I know. So if you can't do that then you can get in touch with somebody that has the stuff you can do the dance with all the modules balance them all that business re-squeeze them in the rack new or clean bus bars and nuts all that stuff And you know if you get lucky that'll go three to five years depends if you keep the car in the wind and stay on the road Prius do not like to sit if you're going to do that get a Yaris or a Corolla they can sit for months doesn't bother them a bit The Prius is real finicky about sitting I don't care if you have it on battery tenders and all this and that they just don't like it I don't know why but they don't I have to I have four or five generation twos and I have to swap in between cars to keep them all driving if you will because sitting is not an option at least not here it isn't.

If you are going to buy a new HV battery, I would recommend an OEM battery from a local Toyota dealership.

This is one of those times where a grid charger could make a difference. My experience with the P07AF is that it isn't necessarily a single module (or two) causing a failure, but more of an overall weakness of many of the modules. Basically, the individual modules haven't "failed", they're just tired. Do you know anyone from whom you could borrow a grid charger to do some discharge/charge cycles and see if it helps the battery?

I can check your battery to see if it is any usable if you bring it to me. You're 3 hours away from me. I would need at least 5 days for this. I don't need no money for the try.
I guess the year of your Prius is 2007, but how many miles?
I also have a 2012 Primearth battery that was pulled from a wrecked 2009 Prius.
