Had someone on a bicycle hit me and cracked just the outer clear plastic on my right side headlight (see pics)
Opened the hood and see that the outer clear plastic lens is held onto the assembly with several screws implying that it can be replaced (no other damage on mine other than the cracked lens) I have been searching but cannot find a part number for just the outer clear plastic lens. Please tell me that Toyota sells this part and I am not forced to replace the entire assembly that is over 1k new! I haven't removed the screws just yet to see if how easily the rest of the plastic removes....but it sure looks like it would come off fairly easily with those small screws holding it on.

2021 AWDe - assuming most all the 4th gens have the same headlights (minus prime)

Not sure it's practical to just replace the outer plastic shell. For full headlight replacement, this page will help:

HEADLAMP. 2021 Toyota Prius Limited | Toyota Parts Center Online

It has suggested retail, AND links to dealerships nearby to you, and their prices are typically lower. There appear to be three headlight options, so tread cautiously. Maybe confirm with dealership parts department too,; supply them your VIN or whatever they need.

What's your insurance like, btw? If you've got decent collision/comprehensive, this is the time to use it.

What would not be "practical" about it? lol replacing the entire assembly that has nothing wrong with it won't not be practical ;)

I hope you got the information from the bicyclist that caused the damage. Like Mendel said, you're more than likely going to need to replace the entire headlight assembly.

Which headlights do you have? Adaptive or w/o adaptive, automatic high beam?

Couple dealers have the lens - 8113147860

I think it's comparable to windshield replacement, requires very careful removal and prep, proprietary adhesive.

Hi. So Yes you can just replace the outer shell. It involves removing the entire headlight assembly from the car wrapping it in aluminum foil and baking at 200 degrees for 5 min to soften the adhesive that holds the outer housing from the inner one. Adding new bytul strip adhesive to the black part of the housing and then pressing the new outer housing together with much force.
However I don't think you can source just the outer housing unless you find it in a junkyard..in which case just replace the entire assembly.
This is your best cheapest solution. This shows the heating and separation method. It is not quick or easy but can be done. searching for the link......

I had to have my ‘22 replaced under warranty and when I was investigating what Toyota would probably be doing I learned that they have to be completely sealed or they would fail do to moisture intrusion. Apparently when they are built they go through a rather strenuous process to insure they are sealed and very dry. Mine developed condensation in it right after I picked it up and Toyota seemed to take a lot of care to discover what had caused it.
I agree with Mendel that this is one of those times to take a hit on the insurance.

A bit of a necropost, but I need to do this myself to a pair of 2010 housings, as mine have started to gather condensation in them. I want to try resealing them rather than buying another set. I already have gray roofing butyl and was wondering if I can use it.
(Sort of related the butyl(?) in my door seems to be melted and I was thinking about replacing the adhesive in that as well.)

Has anyone tried painting the inside of their Prius housings as well? I don't want to do tint, but I saw the paint on a Golf, and I like the look.
