Greetings all! For the past 7 years I've been a denizen (mostly lurking) of the Gen II forums. On Saturday, we entered the Gen III world when we traded our 2008 Magnetic Gray in on a 2013 Classic Silver Four w/ deluxe Solar package. Looking forward to sifting through the forums here and hoping that the folks here are as nice and helpful as the Gen II group! I'll have a couple of pics up within a day or so... Greg
Obviously we haven't had much time to test it, but yesterday we were out running errands and during the heat of the day it was around 88F. We returned to the car during a particularly sunny stretch and 1) could hear the fan running as you approached the car on the passenger side, and 2) Not nearly as hot as you would expect a closed up car to be under those conditions. Still warm, but not stifling. So from our limited testing, yes, it makes a difference...
I know with the expansion of the "Prius Family" and simply the passage of time there are several "Prius" one can own. But I don't sweat too much separation from forum to forum outside of specific realities to each product. There are differences. You've gone from Gen 2 to Gen 3, enjoy. Your perspective as someone who has owned both becomes potentially more valuable. But this is STILL Prius Chat.....your not so much "Moving On" as simply changing Gen's.
Got your back! After a month of shopping, last Friday 6/19 we too traded our 2006 GenII Mag Gray Prius 4, for a 2015 Naut Blue Prius 5. Even though I also own an Audi A7 (with start/stop tech), I am still THRILLED to drive the Prius around town at 49mpg - happy Father's day to me
In my 2010 solar I also leave one of the back windows cracked a bit, so solar fan have easier job pushing hot air out - Alex
